I would love to see them!!!! You use the Darling (?) something pattern, don't you? I keep going and looking at stawhatbratdiapers' stash of dipes and drooling!!! You ladies keep me pumped to make another dipe and another, and .......

Hey!!! I went to Walmart today and I swear there was this magnetic pole that was drawing me streight to the fabric department!!! You just wouldn't believe it!!! Anyway, thanks to the pole I am now the proud owner of this incredibly (repeat: INCREDIBLY!!!) soft fleece that will makes some real mean diaper covers!!! I can't wait!!!!

I now want to order some micro fleece to line the covers. Oh if only the OSDS would ship orders in a timly fashion!!! I do grow impatient waiting for them to ship.

Have you (or anyone else) added an additonal layer of fleece just to the crotch area for added protection in the wet zone to protect from compression wicking, but not add bulk to the rest of the cover?

I was thinking:
~~one layer of the incredibly soft stuff
~~one layer of micro fleece (mainly so that I could do a T&T but not add bulk) and
~~one crotch size, small piece, incredibly soft stuff sandwiched between.

Do you forsee any problems with this design?

Well, I have been too lazy to take photos of my stash! I have a few photos I can post. I am retiring some of my fleece/flannel diapers and using more fleece/microfleece and soon to add velour/velour fitted pockets. I have my velour washed and ready and just need to sew. The flannel does not stay as soft as the microfleece, so I want to try velour. But flannel has such cute prints!

I have never tried making a crotch piece, but I would have to put it higher up since I have a boy. I have made the outside with fleece lined in microfleece and also used microfleece as the inner and that diaper goes all night with a soaked insert with no dampness at all. And it has held up great. 2 layers of fleece was too bulky. Microfleece alone wicks moisture pretty well, but if you line regular fleece with it that is one cover that can't wick anything. I guess you could just line the wet zone (in my case the top half). I might try that. It would save some money which I love!

I have also just made some pockets with lightweight Windpro and they are amazing! The Windpro is so thin and stretchy, yet it passed my night-time test with ease. When I first made the diaper I had a small auto microfiber towel in it and it was not covering the sides. My ds was napping on his side and his bed was completely soaked. I was worried that my Windpro was not water-resistant enough, but then I realized that there was no insert on the sides! Once stuffed with a Costco towel my ds can go hours to overnight with no dampness. I am going to order some more of this stuff. It is worth the $11/yard (it makes 8 medium Darling Diapers pockets!).

I want to make so many dipes. So many types and variations. My dd's bum likes ub prefolds quite well, and I love the simplisity of them, but they have to be changed about every hour. She is a heavy wetter. Right now I have a Tiny Birds wool soaker on her and it is sooo soft, but I have to be quick with those changes or look out!! The same thing with the fleece. She is just such a heavy wetter.

My mind flip-flops back and forth.

Then I think, well you know FBz were quick and easy and heald tons of pee. I never got wet and dd stayed dry too. I though that the fleece was causing her rashes, but she gets them now too. Even with the cotton. It is not linked to detergent, wetness, material, or yeast. I use a tiny amount of sports wash and do a second rinse, I keep dd dry, no yeast infection, and it happens out of the blue with any type of material. So here I am back to considering FBz.

Yes, they are made with pul, but that didn't seem to be a problem for dd. I don't like those pointy tabs of FBz, but they are good dipes. I don't want to work with pul so I don't want to sew up pul pockets. And my goodness! it is time to start working on a Christmas shopping list! We have a fall homeschool gathering Fri, my son wants a sleepover for his b-day in which I am to cook for, Thanksgiving is breathing down my neck, etc, etc.....I am wondering how I will ever have time to sew?????

My hair has been falling out buy the tones and I think I will just pull the rest out with frustration!

You all have been so kind to help me and I have ordered all of this stuff and I don't know what I will do.

You sound a bit overwhelmed, and I can completely understand! I have been sewing diapers, but I really shouldn't be spending the time. I have a house that needs to be deep-cleaned, photos from January last year to be organized, a mother-in-law in the hospital, and a baby who is growing up too fast and is almost not a baby anymore... Who knew staying at home would still be so frantic and busy. I thought with only one baby I would have all of this free time to read and organize my life. Yeah right...

Sorry that the fleece is not working out. Fleece only works for me if I have a Costco microfiber towel stuffing that baby. But I don't think my ds is a very heavy wetter at this point of his life. But I agree with you, FBs are a great work horse diaper. I have GADs, Harleyz, and Wonderoos and I think FBs still are the best. I love my diapers for home, but when I need something 100% dependable I always turn to my FBs.

For a while I was on a PF and wool fit, but I hated changing my ds every 30 minutes or so. He does not wet much, but he does it often!

Just take a break from sewing for a few days/weeks/months. When I get overwhelmed I just put everything to the side until I am ready once again. The fabric won't go bad! I hope you feel better. We need to go get a massage!

Oh I am so glad that the fabric won't go bad!!! Cuz I just can't get this out of my system.

I think I do need a massage, but I will settle for a little breathing room.
