Any nursing mamas?

Is anyone else breastfeeding? Planning on continuing through the pregnancy? Changes in supply?

I am! Parker is showing no signs of slowing down though my supply is a little low. I hope to continue as long as she wants to. I guess I don't have any idea of what to expect in the coming weeks and months!

Yep, I'm nursing my 14 month old DS. I hope to continue nursing throughout the pregnancy and tandem nurse once #2 is born. I'm worried about my supply but we'll handle any problems as they arise.

i recognize you mama's from the breastfeeding forums.

i thought i was havng AF last week (sensitivity to the nipples) and when i didn't get it and tested positive instead i immediately took a water inventory. I've really doubled my intake of water and the sensitivity has disappeared. Oh, it comes and goes, but it's always when i need to drink some water.

my youngest nursling is almost 20 mos so she is still on demand round the clock. and because she's always nursing, it will keep my supply going strong. just like my 2nd preg when i nursed my oldest. he was only 16mos when #2 was born. he nursed on demand round the clock thru that preg.

i think that's the key. my 3rd preg my supply took a severe dip (which didn't stop my boys). i was dehydrated which lead me to limiting the nursing as my boys were older to understand that it hurt mom to keep going, etc.

so i'm nursing 3 thru this preg, but it's too early to tell about supply. but, i think i have it all figured out. maybe.

Nursing an 18 m.o. here

I'll nurse him until he's no longer interested. Just taking each day as it comes. We're down to 3 x's/day and night weaned so I'm thinking he may give up the boob at some point before #2 arrives.

I'm nursing my 17 month old.....I'm sure she won't quit before the baby is here (if I know her, she's a real addict ) I tandem nursed my first two for a year....not sure I'll do that again, but I don't really mind either way...

mine is 28 months ... i thought he was slowing down when my supply dropped a couple of weeks ago, but then his last eye tooth started popping through and he was back to nursing every 2 hours. (day & night.) i really was hoping he'd night wean himself ... i'm really very exhausted, and getting woken up every two hours at night is really starting wear me down. it's up to him, though ... and after a rough start, he has always been very attached to nursing a lot, and i think i'm actually a little afraid that he's going to keep going 'round the clock for a couple more years.

this is something that is on my mind all the time lately. i'm quite worried about it all, i guess.

Nursing my 18 month old DD here. We haven't had any supply issues that I've been aware of thus far. The plan is to nurse her for as long as she wants/needs and if that includes tandem nursing, then that would be perfectly fine by me.

I'm nursing my 20mth old. She only nursing 2x a day, So I'm not sure if she will continue if i lose my supply. I'm not sure if i want to tandem or not, so we will see. i also had a deadline of age 2, so maybe by then she will be done. She also loves her nursing so we will just have to wait ans see for this too.

I am nursing my 16 mo daughter. She has really slowed down lately and so has my supply, so she may wean herself, but I don't have any expectations.

I'm nursing my (almost) 20-month-old dd right now. She shows NO signs of slowing down -- maybe even going in the other direction. As long as I stay hydrated, my supply seems fine. And most of the herbs in the pregnancy tea my midwife has me drinking are galactagogues, so I hope that'll help a bit!

Still nursing my 20 month old. That was my first clue that I might be pregnant. He started getting fussy when nursing at the end of last week and I could tell that he wasn't getting a real letdown anymore, no real swallowing. He's nursing sometime in the morning usually, before nap and before bed. Sometimes at night still, though frankly, I can live without those feedings.

Those of you who have bumped up your supply by drinking water, how much water are you drinking a day? I get plenty of liquids in various forms, but maybe I need to just focus on water.

As for whether I'll continue to nurse through the pregnancy, I plan to keep going as long as he wants -- unless the morning sickness sets in big and bad like my first two pregnancies. My first weaned when I was three months preg with my second, and I'll admit I was glad. I just couldn't take having to pop him off to go running to the bathroom to barf.

thanks Jish, reading that made me go drink a glass (Naking). I keep a large cup (20 oz) by the sink, so whenever i get a glass i know i get at least that much.

I always clear a hundred oz. Not really sure by how much (but, i can easily drink a gallon per day..126oz?). But, i've got more nurslings to drain me. I really need to keep track. There is a point where you can get too much water. But, i'm eating too so i won't worry about it.

My herbal tea is another good source of water, but i don't count that in my water intake.

I could have written your post!! Except my son is 24 months.
I really don't know what my plan is. All my plans about weaning - nighweaning have always failed, so I am just going with the flow right now.

If anyone is interested in night weaning, I followed this advice:

http://www.drjaygordon.com/ap/sleep.htm

at 12 months and it took three nights and he's been night weaned since then. It was important to me because I wanted my cycle back so I could TTC #2 and needed AF. She came back in two months, then we got a BFP on cycle #4 while still BFing during the day. I also have been getting A LOT more sleep which is lovely

Good luck!

i just night-weaned my 25 month old within the last week. i decided that i just wasn't getting enough rest with nursing her 2-3 times a night and getting up at least once to pee. i also don't want to tandem night nurse. if i end up doing it during the day so be it although i'd prefer not to. i also decided to do it now so she doesn't associate it with the new baby. i started by explaining to her before bed that we were not going to have momma milk at night, only when we go to bed and when we wake up. everytime she woke up to nurse, i just snuggled her close and whispered in her ear how much i love her and that she can have momma milk when the sun comes up and that daddy and i were right there for her and she was safe. the first two nights she cried for about 2-3 minutes and settled back to sleep each time she woke up. by the third night, she only woke up once. and by the fifth night she slept all the way through the night like 10 hours straight!!! first time in two years i've gotten that much uninterrupted sleep (still had to wake up to pee though!) and it was awesome!!

i'd like it if she weans during this pregnancy, but i don't want to force the issue because it is obviously still very emotionally important to her. i have never been a big water person, but now i am parched all the time. i'm getting 2-3 liters of water a day right now (see- no wonder i'm getting up to pee!)
