Best way to get crayon out of fabric?

DD drew a line all the way across my dad's couch slipcover with non-washable crayon. The cover is huge, so I would love to be able to clean it without removing it, but I will take it to a laundromat if necessary. What would be the best thing to do?

We use what is called "fels-naptha" it is a bar soap stain remover. It is usualy in the laundry section at the grocery stoor and easily missed.

Where in CO do you live?

I take it was not a washable crayon? Which means it was probably grease based.

Okay, I saw this on a talk show but I've never tried it. They sprayed WD40 on the stain. Then let it sit for 10 minutes. The WD40 caused the grease in the crayon to "rewet" itself, and then was more like a "fresh" stain. Then she scrubbed with Dawn. You know -- dish soap with a degreaser in it. Then rinsed. It worked beautifully on TV.
