Introducing Gavin Ryan

It did happen fast (6 hrs) though going through it didnt seem that fast

Arnie came home at 3 & we decided to have sex since it seemed to give me contractions on Sunday. I layed on the bed with my butt in the air for a bit to get it in there to do its thing...is this to much TMI????

k so I began to have contractions at about 3:30 & they began getting stronger about 5:30 where I really had to stop & breathe thru them. I knew this was it...they started at every 5 mins & then at 5:30 they were every 2 mins. My midwife was about an hr away, but called a closer one to come just in case.

I dont know the times from this point on, but I guess somewhere between 6 & 7 two of the midwives were there & I was 5 cms dialated with a bulging bag of water. I went into the pool & then back out it was VERY hard to feel any level of comfort at this stage & I think this was the beginning of transition because I was thinking why did I chose this way again????

My midwife knew I wanted a water birth so at one point when I was pushing she asked if I wanted to get back in the water & I didnt know what I wanted, but what could it hurt. Me & Arn went in & after some really strong contractions my bag finally broke & then bam there was the ring of fire.

I almost lost control about 3 times after this, my midwife had to pull me back in to focus. Then she asked me to reach down & feel my baby & when I felt his head in the water it was like no other feeling Ive ever felt before...everything for a brief moment just stood still & was peaceful. Then it hit again & I pushed pretty quick to get him the rest of the way out, but luckily I did not tear enough to need stitches. I caught & pulled out my son

It was a wonderful birth experience, he was awake for 3 hours after the birth very alert & wanting to know what was going on. When he realized what nursing was he was in heaven & then slept thru the night. Woke up this morning took his first poo & has pretty much spent his day nursing or sleeping

Alex gave him one of her baby dolls & insists that he is her baby sister I see a very overprotective big sister on my hands since already noone is allowed to touch him because hes mommys baby.

Congratulations! :
What a cute little man he is! I read DP the part of your birth story about the sex leading to the contractions & he immediately recommended that we try that too, "right now". So we did. Haha. But sadly, we did not get the same results as you guys. Thanks for sharing your story & pictures!! Wonderful babymoon to you.
