Anyone doing Hypno-birthing?

I was wondering if anyone will be doing this. DO you know any good website that talks more about it? I am thinking about giving it a try.

i have some info about it in my living room somewhere. i was going to start reading this weekend. i have not done it, but i know a woman who did a few years back who raves about hypnobirthing. i haven't decided for sure, of course, but i'm looking into it.

: I've been curious about this. I just wouldn't want to be so hypnotized that I miss out on all the feelings and sensations of giving birth, kwim? How does it feel when you go under with this program? Are you still aware and mostly present or do they take you really deep?

ooooh. cool story. best friend just gave birth this week, using hynob and all was good. on way home from birth center today, babe crying in car. she put in the hynobabe cd that they always listened to in the car together...and babe went right to sleep!!! how cool is that?!

Hmm. I haven't found any really good links to pass on to you. My doula teaches a hypnobirthing class, so I was considering taking it.

The only thing I don't like about so many of the weblinks advertising hypnobirthing is the catcall, "eliminate pain and fear from delivery!" Not all of them say that, but one is too many, in my book. I could even accept if they said "MAY eliminate pain and fear from delivery!" I understand that the more educated we are about *anything*, the less fear we will have. But promising trusting women a pain-free birth is a little misleading. Ah well. Just my 2 cents.

I did this with Seth and LOVED IT!!! Seriously, dh didn't even know half the time when I was having contractions. I was so relaxed. I highly recommend finding a good teacher in your area. We took classes and just loved it. I am starting to look for my scripts that dh put on cd's for me so I can start earlier this time.

Ok, after reading other's posts, I am editing this one to add some more things. I felt everything. I felt the contractions, I felt the pain of tearing, I felt the urge to push, I felt everything. I would not have liked it if I didn't feel anything. That was the whole reason I had a homebirth, I wanted to feel and experience Seth's birth. So, don't worry about that.
What hypnobirthing did for me was allow me to learn how to relax so that i could work with my body, not against it. I also had a lot of fear going into this labor, as my first dd was born via c-section (footling breech) and passed away at 8 months old. This allowed me to work with my fears before ds was born and be prepared somewhat for labor.
Just as anything, this is not for everyone, but it is definately worth looking into.

I agree with Kim..I did my own modified version of it. I was soo relaxed I actually was almost asleep, but aware of contractions, up until time to push. It was awesome!

I'm thinking about doing this. The closest class that I know of for it is 2 hours away, so I'm going to look for something closer.

Yes, I could still feel everything, but I was relaxed and could handle the back labor and the contractions. DH was surprised by how quiet I was throughout most of labor, and was very pleased that I didn't cuss at him!

I did the Hypnobabies home study course. There is also a hypnobabies yahoo group for moms doing childbirth hypnosis that I found helpful last time, I will join it again this time.

For hypnobirthing! I got my info on www.hypnobirthing.com I got the book and the Rainbow Relaxation CD. I found a class in my area but it conflicted w/ DH's work schedule so I just read the book and listened to the CD every night. I think the class would have helped, mainly because DH and I were lazy about doing the exercises together.

That being said, even w/out the classes I found it so helpful. Prior to my pregnancy I suffered a lot from anxiety and I was really scared that I would wig out for 9 months. That CD was like a double dose of Xanax! It got so I would fall asleep almost the instant I heard the music start. I haven't played it since DS was born but I bet if I did he would react positively. I still do the visualization exercises when I'm feeling stressed.

I didn't have the pain free experience because I was induced and felt I had to have meds. Well, I guess I did have a pain free experience, lol. But I was never scared AT ALL and I really think it was because I listened to that CD every night for months.

OK, I'll stop but I just want to say go for the Hypnobirthing for sure. I don't see how you could regret it!

Ooh! I'm so excited to hear all the RL stories of actually using Hypnobirthing! Yay! I'm definitely gonna take this class!
