I am new to online chat groups, so I don't know if I am doing this right. I am 11 weeks pregnant, 38 years old. I had a miscarriage five years ago, and I am technically infertile (secondary amenorrhea) so this pregnancy is truly a modern medical miracle to me. I have been spotting for the past five weeks, and though all seems well (mulitple US reveal nothing wrong; my midwives think I have a friable cervix), I am plagued by fear and anxiety. I am looking to connect with other women who are having trouble feeling joy in their pregnancy.

Good luck, NN-D! You should be able to find lots of info and support here at MDC and in this due date club.
Take heart, and take care of yourself. (Maybe a walk in the beautiful fall foliage in MA would help!)
I am pg with my first, and 29 yo, but am struggling with some depression myself. I keep plugging away, jumping into the chats and trying to find inspiration. I recommend doing what you're doing - build a community of supporting women.
Many happy thoughts for you and your little one.

Hey NN-D,
First of all congratulations! It sounds like you have a little miracle on your hands (or in your belly). You've come to the right place for support, many of us have bouts of depression and ambiguous feelings. After having a miscarriage myself in August, I had a REALLY hard time relaxing and connecting with this one. "When can I own this?" was one of my more common thoughts. I'll be 14 weeks this weekend and I've found that for me, it got much easier when I let go and trusted my body. After 8 weeks or so, the only time I doubted that all was well was after visits with the midwives, and ultrasound for dating. Not that they told me that anything was wrong...my mind just went wild with anything either spoken or unspoken. I've backed away from it all and really gone back to trusting my instincts but it is not always easy! Many moms on here have dealt with bleeding throughout their pregnancies as well and can offer their support. We also have a thread for those pregnant after a loss which will be helpful as well.
And I'm in Northampton too! Well actually we're in Amherst right now, but moving back to Northampton in the next few months. I'm working with the midwives at Hampshire OB. You're definitly the only other Western Mass mom in the May club! Who are you working with? Cooley or homebirth? Most importantly welcome!

and

I think almost all of us have those what-if moments about pregnancy. We are so trained to believe that it is a medical event, not a natural thing for our bodies to go through.
Having said that.....spotting for that long would freak me out too. I'm so glad the u/s are showing nothing is wrong!
Oh yeah...and...
Congratulations on your little miracle baby
