greeting cards- keep or toss? - Page 2

I save xmas cards and bday cards and such and reuse them by cutting out the cute pieces and scrapping together cards for others. So I will basically glue them back into cards and send them out again! So far I haven't gotten any weird looks for this...

Generally, I toss them. But on a related note, my Dad died about 2 years ago, suddenly and unexpectedly. We got tons of pictures, papers and stuff to go through in the months following his death. We discovered that he had kept MANY of the cards and letters we had sent him over the years. He was not at all a sentimental person so I was really surprised by that. But it really touched me to think that they had meant something to him and he had held on to them.

Some save last years cards and recraft them into homemade cards for this year. I am going to try as at least one of my DD's is old enought to help make cards which I think is really neat giving out homemade cards

Its a nice way to recyle IMO.

I used to save them ALL....

Now I toss them unless they are really special and are going in a scrapbook or can be used in the future for some sort of craft project.

I put them into a small shoebox where I keep scraps of paper, envelopes from others, etc and let my toddler draw on them. She always wants to write on something and I don't like giving her an unused sheet of paper to scribble on! Besides I think she likes the variety.

Then I toss 'em! I do keep photo cards though and let my preteen put them into albums. She is very into doing this, organizing photos. I also have a milk crate in my own closet with a couple of memory boxes to keep the odd extra special card or note. I have love notes from my dh, anniversary cards and the like in there, in one memorr box. In the other box I have special things sent to my kids or dh.

If you rip them in half so you just have the message part, they'll take up less room. Also, toss any that just have signatures.
