What exactly happens with a BPP?

If I am still preggo by next Tuesday (41 1/2 weeks), my MW recommends a biophysical profile. What exactly is done? An ultrasound...what else? How long does the whole thing usually take?

It's cool though - it's at a freestanding lab, not connected to a hospital. They couldn't keep me if they wanted to! Nyah!

I'm not positive but I believe they do a u/s and maybe a fetal heartrate monitor because they like to see how the heartrate moves during ctrx and movement and stuff like that. But that's all I'm aware of.

I think its an u/s that checks baby's size, fluid levels, probably some stuff with the placenta/cord, etc. And then they do an NST, where they put you on the monitors and you note whenever you feel the baby move, so they can see how the baby's heart rate responds to the activity.
