so about my u/s today...

I just figured I post a thread about this since it will probably get lost in the weekly chat...

Anyway, when I got to the hospital there was a huge mix up about my referral not getting there etc and so they did the ultrasound without the referral because they wanted to get me in before the techs went to lunch. And we ended up getting the biophysical profile we wanted... the tech didn't think that at my stage she would be doing a date scan... she said like 10 times over and over how it was too late to do an accurate date scan because you can't even see the whole baby on the screen. So it all worked out and I won't have to go in and get another one like my OB was saying I'd have to do.

Everything is perfect. They estimate I'm 40 weeks right now. Baby is in a great position, very low but still very easy to stimulate into action. Placenta is good with only minimal calcifications which is normal. Amniotic Fluid levels are great. Sex is still a secret . So... my mind is at rest and I'm feeling much relief emotionally. I know I can easily go 2 more weeks and not be all freaked out that something will happen to the baby.. whew!!! It was really neat seeing the baby. I was smiling the whole time.

Well I'm off to have a spicy thai food dinner. Hopefully it's gonna make these irregular contrax do something!!!

Great news -- first off about the referal and getting the service you wanted -- although that can seem trivial compared to the well-being of the babe, I know what an absolute nightmare it can be when the referals get screwed up or don't go through. I delt with that about a month ago.

Anyway, great that you seem to be in excellent shape to just wait it out with the rest of us (hehehehe . . . ) misery LOVES company . .

what do you mean by the "but" in this, i.e. if they aren't stimulated to action does that mean you are closer to birth or what?

What a relief- I'm glad you let us know, I've been wondering about you today! I'm glad the baby and placenta and fluid are all good And that they didn't 'oops' and tell you the sex if you didn't want to know!

So was there a mixup on dates, or what? What would your due date have been, then?

Hee-hee-hee. I know it must feel like crap, knowing you have longer to go than you THOUGHT- but at the same time, it makes me feel better knowing that they'll not be rushing you off to do an emergency c-section any time soon. (I can just see the headlines: woman gives birth to teenager at home!!!!) Besides, being 100% selfish, I get to keep my partner in prodromal pain a little longer.
Was it really weird, being able to see so clearly all the details of his/her bones and skeleton and all those things that you actually work with every day? Or did you just get a bit caught up with "oh, look, it's a baby!!!"

I'm so glad to hear it went well. I totally know what you mean about how it makes it easier to get through to the end. Amazing what a relief it can be, no?

plagio - from my understanding, babies usually slow down in their movements and calm down a little just before birth. Willem slowed down like 3 or 4 weeks before so I don't think it's an accurate measure of impending labor. This baby has been much more active than Willem, especially considering HOW LOW he/she is... I wish I could post a pic of how low my belly is but you really can't appreciated the lowness unless it's a nude photo from the side... clothes kind of cover it all up. Literally, my belly is lower than the tops of my thighs!!! by a lot. I wanted to add that it's NEVER good for baby to completely stop moving and you should feel at least 10 movements an hour no matter how far along you are. With Willem I really had to keep a chart and make sure he was still moving... this baby, I can usually get the 10 movements within 5 or 10 minutes.

itsybitsy- they are saying that my cycle/ovulation was off because I was breastfeeding. Also that maybe not having a period in Feb didn't nec. mean I was pg from January's ovulation. Which would make sense according to the dates we are looking at now. So I'm 40 weeks now but the new EDD they are giving me is the 17th (I don't understand why but I didn't ask). So this very well could be a late november baby!!!

flapjack- you are so, what's that they say over there, CHEEKY!!!! Now we HAVE to give birth on the same day! If you go first I don't know what I'm gonna do. It was weird seeing the baby's skeleton and everything but I only looked for the first minute or two and then she had me turn on my side because I started to get lightheaded (too much weight on the vena cava).
I told everyone on the phone yesterday that there was definitely a baby in there!!!

It is a great relief to know the baby is okay. Even though my symptoms are increasing and not going away...

Oh and I forgot to say that they estimated the weight to be 8 lbs 12 oz (give or take a pound of course).

this baby is also VERy active still.. some days she quiets down and i think.. is this it? but then by evening she is crazy as ever..
