Y'all have gone and done it now!!!

All this talk has got me wanting a serger and dh has approved it!!!

So now between all of the rush-rush I will just have to sneak in a few minutes here and a few there to make some dipes.

I can't decide what I want my first serger project to be: a fitted like Fireflys, a Poopocket, or a contour. Can Honeyboys be serged? That pattern should arrive soon. I think I will do snaps instead of aplix though?

Keep on talking and I might convience dh to build me a sewing room!!!

Hi Susie!

Poor you, you have to get a serger.

I've never made honeyboys, but as it's a turn and topstitch thing, you could probably serge the interior and then you'd have a clean, even, sturdy seam. So when you turn and topstitch, it would be very clean and easy to stitch as there are no pesky 'holes' and the seam is the same distance, etc. I also find it much faster than the basting stitch.

Good luck with the serger and be sure to post pics (not like I ever do: lol)

I think my first serged diaper project will be a VB fitted, since I just ordered the pattern. I don't have any other patterns (except my own that I'm still tweaking, and it would need more tweaks to become a serged diaper).

My first serging project will have to be curtains though, since I already promised DH that it would be. I'll learn those long straight lines (I have very tall windows, and I'm doing more of a "sash", I guess, so it's super super long), then practice on scraps to get the curves down. Or maybe practice making some snap-in contour inserts... Oh, good idea.

My second serged diaper project will probably be a serged, side-snapped AI2. I have all the fabric waiting... a cool dolphin/whale print, suedecloth for inside, PUL (of course), hemp french terry, and velour.

I'm so happy for you! I just got a serger last week My first project was diaper wipes out of scraps. It was a great way to learn and make something usefull at the same time. You are going to love serging, at least I do. You can make things so much faster and it makes such a pretty clean looking edge. I wasn't able to play with it over the weekend cause I had family in town, but my next project with be some fitted dipes I can't wait hehehe

Woo hoo! Congrats to you! I'm going bananas waiting for mine. I chose to do in-store pick-up thinking it would be faster than having it shipped. But I should have just had it shipped to the house because it's taking forever! I've been obsessively checking my email hoping they got it in.

I think my first project will be wipes, for learning the machine. Then I'm going to finish turning my infant pfs into fitteds. I did five on the sewing machine and then I convinced dh that I needed a serger.

Bustin' in here to brag-- I traded in my PITA manual adjust serger for a Babylock Imagine today! It has automatic tension & threading! I'm in heaven, here!

I probably have about 100 wipes from when I first got my serger. I cut up the gillions of receiving blankets I got for my DS and serged away!! Great practice rounding those corners, LOL!

Wipes are another project I need to do when I get my serger. I currently barely have enough, and I often find myself running downstairs to the laundry basket because I get upstairs with poopy baby and find that I have NO wipes on the changing table. : So far, I haven't run out, but I'd like to have alot more so that when some are being washed, I still have some on the changing table waiting to be used.

I'm going to have to run to Hancocks and get more yummy velour with all the projects I have that it would work well for (fitteds, snap-in AIO soakers, mama pads, and now cloth wipes!).
