ugghhh someone sprayed solvent in my house

We had some furniture delivered and it had a stain. Although I asked for a replacement the store sent a guy to repair it but before I knew it he was spraying some aerosol solvent type cleaner on it. I am fuming. We aired the house for hours and did not come back in until the smell was gone. It was awful when it was here. DH, DS and I were outside until then and every door, window was open and the fan was on... I am thinking about sending the desk back regardless and have a talk with the manager because I find this unnaceptable. Is my house contaminated or what? Can I assume that if the smells are gone we are safe? I am so angry...
BTW I will be airing the house daily for at least a week or two. What else can I do. My husband thinks I am crazy.

That is really unfortunate. I would definitely write a letter to the company. Chances are they will give you something for your trouble, at the least they might have a meeting and inform all of their employees to ASK before they use such chemicals in people's homes. You never know, they might even try to find a more healthy alternative for similar problems in the future. :

I do believe that airing the house out, as you have been and intend to do, will really take care of your problem. The world is pretty contaminated, I'm sure you have been places with such toxins in the air and it's great that you are minimizing your family's and the world's exposure, but it might not be worth the stress. Just keep airing it out for as long as you can and once you can no longer smell it, chances are that it will all be gone. Good luck.
