Femara/Letrozole anyone?

We are about to IUI it this cycle (this will be my first in four years but we are IF veterens with four failed IUIs and a failed ICSI IVF). We magically got pg on our own with DS (we have unexplained IF), then had a m/c last December. I am still very sad and bitter about our loss. I felt like my days of battling IF (or subferility whatever you want to call it) were almost over. Here we've been ttc all over again since March.

At least the Letrozole is something new we haven't tried. I am hoping and praying for success this cycle.

I feel for everyone posting on this board.

Q: is letrazole the cancer drug or clomiphene citrate? Best wishes

femara is the cancer drug. used as an alternative to clomid - most often to folks with pcos (according to my reading)

I've done four Femara cycles. The first was successful but ended in m/c (I've had several though, so please don't take that as a bad sign for you). The other three have been unsuccessful. All in all, I think it's a good way to go. I had beautiful uterine lining and few side effects (a few headaches, but nothing severe). It was easy. The more I read about it, the more convinced I am that it's a better drug than Clomid. Hope it works for you?

By the way, are you going to an RE at FCSA? I saw Dr. Neal there for a consultation over a year ago. At that time, he had never used Femara but was willing to try it if that was what I wanted to do. I did end up trying it, but with a doctor in Austin.

Clueless, I've seen Dr. Neal in the past but am currently seeing Dr. Witz at South Texas Fertility Center (part of the UTHSC). Small world, huh. Do you live in Austin? Or between S.A. and Austin?

I'm in Austin. We have a real shortage of REs here, so if we get to IVF, I'll probably be looking at SA, Houston, and Dallas. What a pain.

Hope you have good luck with the Femara. I know of quite a few women who have been successful with the Femara/IUI combo.

I've been hearing/reading alot about Femara; it sounds really good! I'd be curious to hear more success stories.
