MT - Excellent points and I thank you VERY much for acknowledging my concerns. I want to continue to research until I have no doubts left and can speak with the same conviction as so many here do. You are such a wealth of info and I'll save your post so I can read it anytime I need some encouragement!

I think one thing you need to think about 4xmommy, is that trusting yourself, also involves listening to a voice inside you that has been put there for a good reason.

So often when I do cases, mothers say to me "I knew before hand. I never felt this way about the others, just this one, and I let them over-ride that voice. I wish I hadn't." In retrospect, they feel they betrayed that child.

In everything, no matter what it is, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

Then, go research and see if that gut feeling has got any factual backing. And even if it hasn't you have to decide if you will listen

for me, as a Christian, there is an added dimension to that. I believe that voice was put there by God. The voice of the Holy Spirit. And every time I've switched it off, we've come a cropper. Sure, I still have to research sometimes, but I've learned that if push comes to shove i will trust that voice first, and research later if I have to.

I don't think MT is on MDC anymore. Wow, this is an old thread. But I'll add that the OP's daughter's cough sounds a LOT worse than pertussis! My daughter had what I considered to be a bad case at age 2 1/2, and it was nowhere near that level of coughing. My 9 month old son had a very mild case.

I don't have MT's knowledge but I'll check out your post, MelindaGayle.
