VB AIO wicking!!!???

HELP....

First off I want to say that the VB AIO pattern is very easy to do and makes a beautiful looking diaper.

So I made on following the pattern instructions. I used flannel inners with an internal soaker. I had wicking around the legs. It is completely rolled in just as it should be. Any thoughts. The diaper was only wet in the front half. Was it too much pee all at once?

I was wondering if it would be better to use fleece inners and attach an external soaker to the fleece. I want ds to know when diaper is wet.

I used the PUL from one stop diaper shop.

Any thoughts I am wanting to keep sewing, but want to fix the problem first.

Did you add another lay-in soaker in addition to the layers of flannel that were sewn in?? I find that I have to use a fleece-topped hemp doubler on top to be absorbent enough. I'm still waiting on some hemp fabric, so I just use doublers from other diapers. I'm sure just adding another 4 layer doubler layed in there--with or without a microfleece liner on top would really help.

Also, did you dry the diaper on HOT before using it? That seals the sewing holes in the PUL.

Good advice already - wash it and dry it on hot a couple of times before use and try adding a doubler if the flannel doesn't seem to be enough. Also, is it a good fit? Is there any gapping at the legs? Do you need to size down one size?

Thanks for help. I used poly thread. I had not dried on hot. I am going to give that a try and add a doubler. Hope it works.

I'll bet the not drying on hot was your problem. Sewing creates lots of little holes in the PUL, but the dryer seals them right up! I hope that fixes your problem!
