ooh Laurie, my mouth is watering! My downfall has been a local restaurant guide that dh got me...with menus! I just read it over and over but I melt down when we need to order because I can't decide!

So today is my birthday, and tomorrow is dh's so we have a lot of fun planned. Tonight dh is competing in our local radio station's singer/songwriter contest after being selected as a finalist. I'm so proud and it will be such a fun way to celebrate our birthdays. More importantly we're going out to dinner with my parents to my FAVORITE restaurant beforehand and I'm so excited.

I feel like I have more energy now than I've ever had in my life, it's great but surprising. Anyone else ever experience this?

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoy the begining of the eating season...er...holiday season.

I can relate

Yes, ds, I agree. I amazed myself by staying up until midnight Monday to work on a project for a class....that hasn't happened in forever! I'm excited to have some more energy since we're going to be with all my immediate family this weekend....and when me, my mom, sil and sis are togetther, it's a serious gabfest. I'll be putting in some late nights.

Especially since my sil discovered mdc after the birth of her first, last dec. I can't wait to inspect her cloth diaper stash now that I'mm really in the market. Plus, I'm so excited! Over Veteran's day we visited with my mil and she spoiled me with a trip to motherhood maternity. I got two pairs of jeans, 4 tops and a sweater....so spoiled!

And then I got two big garbage bags of hand-me-down mat. clothes from friends who delivered in May, so the clothes follow the same seasons I need, like warm, smaller stuff for winter and lighter, bigger stuff for spring. I mean there was everything from cute capris (that I can wear to AZ) to tailored dresses that I probably can wear to a wedding next month. Sooooo awesome!

I'm pretty much set until I get really big and need some tent-like shirts, since most of it is pretty form-fitting. I was just so blessed by it all. I could finally start putting away "regular" clothes instead of struggling to combine them with sweatshirts so they seemed like they fit. I was kinda reluctant to start wearing mat., just b/c I had so many friends who were so sick of their clothes by the end of 9 mo., but now I'm just embracing it:

Yippee! I'm PG! I'm growing out of my clothes! Hooray!

Once againg, many wishes for a happy, yummy Turkey Day!

Jet-lag and pregnancy!

O.K so I hope everyone is having a great holiday! And if you're not celebrating thanksgivig per se,I hope you're having a great day!So yesterday I finally got to see my littlest sis again, and let me tell you-jet lag and being pregnant bring out the very same reactions!I had so much fun laughing at us!She was crying left and right, and even more out of embarrassment, then laughing and joking, then crying again! It was so refreshing to not be the only one!!!!Sure I didn't cry as much, but I've had more practice at holding it back...Poor girl,it's a lot for a 16 year old,but at least she'll be over it in a few days.Oyes, and of course, she can't sleep after 3 am either.I invited her over for pie when we both woke in the wee hours, but she didn't take me up on it.
In other news,my littlest brother is moving into his own house today!YAY for him and his Wife!!!!!Very exiting!
In more other news,I tried green olives yesterday, still not a big fan...I tried the normal ones with and with out pimetto, and a big one stuffed w/ fetta.Yuck to all of them!(thankfully,I did keep them down...)
Well,I'm off to clean and eat!

How about jet lag when you're pregnant??
Just back from sharing the news with family & friends in NY. It was nice to see everyone and I even brought back some basics in the most fashionable infant wear since I was a baby. My mom saves like you wouldn't believe and my sister has a 2 yo and a 6 mo, so there was tons to choose from and we had fun going through stuff!
I got through without my purse and still haven't found it, but am very proud of how calm I've been about losing it. Still bummed, but not stressing, which is good. Thanks for all the good wishes.
I was not sick at all over break and feeling great - back to my regular self! Which also made me worry, ! But I puked this morning, so the respite is over.
Hoping I can learn how to deal with this stress better. . .

How was your and dh's b-days, dshields?? Did he win the contest??

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Eorr,
Thank you so much for asking! We both had great days, the show was amazing and while dh didn't win, he really held his own in the presence of some serious competion. We thought that he would be blown away but he was clearly one of the best. I was so proud and the whole event was very friendly and not at all competitive. The participants were so complementary of one another and Brendan made some great friends/connections.

And he gave me a subscription to Mothering for my birthday. Thanks for remembering, it made my night!

I hope that today finds everyone well. How are your holidays going? DH and I put up a Christmas tree today, something that neither of us has done in years and we are sooo excited! I just love the spectacular light shows that abound this time of year. So pretty. Be blessed ladies!
Love,

We aren't doing a tree at home this year, since we're going to the ILs Dec 14-26. I will miss all my speial ornaments, but OTOH it will be nice not to do the setup/takedown when I am pg and tired.
Well, I have done it now. I volunteered (or rather was volunteered, but I accepted) to host the Christmas party for my friends this year. I did it last year and we had a great time, so now everyone wants to make it an annual thing. I'm the only one with a house and xmas decorations so I'm doing it again. I really liked doing it last year because everyone oohed and awwed at my decorations and cooking and it really stroked my ego. I'm the groups domestic goddess now. Of course, that's not saying much because they're all unmarried bachelors and bachelorettes living in tiny apartments or with parents. But still!

We're going away for the weekend next week and the parties going to be the weekend after that. I have no decorations up yet and my house is a disaster area! With the m/s being so bad, I didn't really clean much at all for almost 3 1/2 months. What was I thinking? Well, at least school will be out by then so I won't have that to worry about.

I'm scheduled for an ultrasound on Dec. 20, just in time for Christmas! We're going to find out the gender if we can. I'm excited! I know everyone will be asking at xmas so I'm glad we're finding out before then.
Merrick...how exciting to find out the gender right before xmas! It's like a little present to yourself.

I'm fairly miserable. After 12 weeks of intractable yeast, I'm finally far along enough to use one of the dastardly prescription creams (I'm not thrilled about it, but desperate). The cream itself is almost worse than the yeast--it makes me burny and itchy--far itchier than I was before I used it, although I'm praying that's just a temporary reaction to the cream on my raw skin. If this doesn't work, I think I may be looking at another 6 months of yeast/itchiness/no sex. The creams are a little iffy in pregnancy (and I've already used Monistat in the 1st tri) and I've never had much luck with them anyway. The only thing that's consistently worked for me is Diflucan and that stuff is REALLY problematic in pregnancy. So, I've basically had a yeast infection (or other itchy problems) on and off for the last six months. How did I ever manage to get pregnant?

Well, that's my self-pitying vent for the day. Hope everyone else is doing better.

The bright note is that I'm sending my MDC Holiday Helpers packages out today! If you haven't volunteered to help, and you can, go check out the thread in Talk Amongst Ourselves! Link: :

Aw hugs Amanda! That sounds awful.

Merrick- that will be just in time for Christmas! People have been asking us and my mom etc for weeks now so I know it will get worse- we're really in for it since we aren't finding out this time. LOL

Smithie- enjoy your Christmas travel!

Danielle- happy belated birthday!

eorr- here's hoping we're all over the m/s. I sure hope so.

We put our tree up and the kids are LOVIN' it. I love the Christmas season! And my grandma may be making homemade fudge this weekend, mmmmm! Ya know, at this point I may just have to go the to store and charge a jar of Jif PB (natural PB doesn't work in fudge IME) and make my own batch today.

NYCVeg, just read your yeast post - have you tried Candex? I swear it is the miracle cure for yeast/thrush. It is an all natural enzyme treatment that you can buy at your HFS. I am almost positive it is safe during pregnancy. It was a life saver to me when I was breastfeeding my last babe. I had recurrent thrush in my breasts, that nothing could cure, until I tried Candex. I learned about it here on MDC, so if you do a search you can find even more info. Good luck. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hmm...maybe I'll look for that if the prescription doesn't work out. Most of the herbal candida remedies I've seen contain ingredients that aren't considered safe in pregnancy (pau d'arco, for instance). But I haven't looked at this one yet, so I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
