That's what I currently use, and the foot is VERY useful. I love it. I *think* I got my overedge foot at Hancocks. It has 2 metal prongs on the right side, pointing towards the back. And above them is a little brush that also points back. On the right side is a plastic guide that you put the fabric up against. It's very very very easy to use, and gives great results. I made a mama pad last night with this method. It will be alot easier when I get a serger though.

Can you use this type of foot on any machine? I have a Kenmore that is about 15 years old. I have been looking at sergers, but just can't justify the money for the few diapers I am making. I could probably find all sorts of other uses, but it is just more than I can spend right now. I'm wondering if I could get a foot like this to work on my Kenmore?

I have a Singer that is a "Sears Exclusive", and thus takes the "Kenmore" bobbins, not Singer bobbins. The foot works fine on my machine. I think as long as you have the type of feet that snap in, it should work. Here's a page that has the foot (although I don't think I paid that much locally) and explains how to tell if it will fit your machine (I'm including the Google images search link so you know which foot I'm talking about).

I have a White brand overcast foot from Joann's that was less than $5 and it fits perfectly on my Singer. It works pretty well and is definately better than just a plain old zig-zag stitch. You'll go through the thread on your bobbin super fast if you do a whole dipe with it. It's a lot easier if you have two or three bobbins all threaded up and ready to go, so that when one runs out you can just pop the next one in.
