June '05 mamamamas !! - Page 3

Well, I'm still fighting my cold (and I think it's winning) and now Joey's coughing and sneezing again And it doesn't help when someone says "Oh, I thought bf'd babies didn't GET sick" Morons.

Grace, I'm soooo jealous. I'd love to go on a date with dh, but even if I could find a sitter at night, he's usually at work or too tired to do anything because of work

I was supposed to be having a Discovery Toys party on Sunday, but now with Joey sick, I'm not sure if I should bother. I was really looking forward to it; and it's the only weekend we have available before the deadline for Christmas ordering. Doesn't make much sense to have a toy party AFTER Christmas/Hannukah/Yule, does it?

I'm going to go down some orange juice, Vitamin C and zinc. See y'all later.

I'm tired. Ely didn't wake up at all during the night, but then he decided he's get up at 5 am this morning. I think I'd rather get up for a 3 am feeding. He's already asleep for his morning nap.

I couldn't watch Six Feet Under. FIL had deleted the episodes!!! Didn't he know the reason I hadn't deleted them was that I hadn't watched them?!?!? It really sucks since the only reason I didn't watch them when they came on was that I had a newborn. I have no idea when the last season is going to come out on dvd

I'll have to try that! LOL!!! That would make things much easier wouldn't it!

Well I thought Noley was going to sleep so I could write but I guess not! I'll TRY to write later!

hugs to all feeling sick...
jennie, UGH!!!!!!! I would be so upset! I am such a tv junkie. I looked in my work database, there is no release date for the next season yet.

I'm tired, too. I went to see Harry Potter last night with my sister. The midnight showing--we were out until 3 am. *sigh* I am way too old for that. The movie was great, though, Cully did ok....there was a half hour of off & on crying, but Alex called me back and told me not to leave (as I was about to do) because he had fallen asleep on his chest. That's my late night out for the year.

Grace-yay for date night. i'm so glad that you were able to go out and have a good time. our anniversayr is next weekend but as we have no family here our sitter options are very slim.

Emmy-sooooo jealous about Harry Potter! dh and i want to go so bad. i think we may go over Christmas while in MI and have my mom watch ds. was it good? i don't want too many details but i know this one was rated PG-13 due to "scarriness".

Jennie-that sucks about the TV. we had to cancel our dish to save $ and i miss TV so much. i'm such a junkie. total food network addict.

Meli-hair pictures! my hair is dyed red as well. it's been that way since highschool though. i used to be a hair-dye junkie since my hair is short and allows for pretty versatile dying but now with ds (and lack of cash) it's stayed the same color for awhile.

ds slept fairly decently last night. only waking 3 times. much more managable. he's been down to one bottle a day for the past several days. i should just try to pump one but i rarely have the time. dh takes him around 630 so i can have a solid block of sleep before he has to go to work. during that time is when he has a bottle, even if i just got done nursing him. i think it's more of a comfort/routine thing that he does w/dh instead of actually being hungry.

SA-hope you guys feel better soon! i have heard that by the mom taking zinc and vit C that it can help the baby through bm so good luck w/that. i hope it works.

I was a tv junkie. When we got our puppy, we also got satellite, hbo, and tivo - it was fantastic. Then when we moved this year, we cancelled them and decided we couldn't afford to hook them back up. It's actually nice, and I feel like we get more done but I miss my HBO. And I'm an internet junkie now...

I am going to post Halloween pictures. It's almost the end of Nov and I have have no more excuses!

well, i am behind- i'll just tell you a few funny sories from the last days- paper eating-- eisa really loves to look at a book of pictograph japanese letters (kanji) so dh was holding her with the book and looking at me as i said something- then, we both looked down and she was eating the book. we laughed adn laughed then he sais, "well, which sign did she eat?" it was the sign for war!! hahahahah

yesterday i met dh at a vietnamese restuarant for lunch and eisa was bieng very lively and loud- by midmeal most of our half of the place and all of the workers had stopped at our table to talk to her- we were getting a little annoyed- especially with the owner who kept saying "oh she likes to chew on the spoon, baby why are you chewing the spoon? just wait till she is teething" me- "she is teething" him- "i just don't know why your chewing baby" me- "she is teething" again and again. so, at the end of the meal one of the girls who worked behind the counter was making a lot of gestures like she wanted to hold her- finnaly i let her and another other girl runs out with a camera asking hilger can we get our picture with her??? and the whole wait staff took turns getting their picture taken with her. they were really nice- all of them talking about their own dc and even took hilgrs email to forard the pictures- how bizare!

next, we went to march a few circles in the strike picket line for the graduate student teaching assistants at NYU (hilger being one) and a newspaper woman took a picture of eisa asleep in her sling wiith a GSOC sticker on it. i let her take the picture, but did not stop to pose like she wanted b/c i feel like it is a little gimiky. it would be nice though if they would provide affordable health coverage for families. we'll see, maybe eisa will get her insurance.....
that is all for now......mcs

Jennie, he is so. cute. I love the scary lion picture, his little face is just precious

mcs, love your stories hope the insurance stuff straightens out, it's sad NYU isn't better about that sort of thing

anne - a few things re: HP...the effects were incredible. the durmstrang ship actually got a loud "ooooooooohhhhhh" from the audience. same for the 1st task. there were a few creative "differences", but they did a good job following the story. they spent time on the appropriate things, and skimmed over the less crucial...they did a decent job, IMO.
Ralph Fiennes was 100% perfectly cast for Voldemort. Seriously, he made him scarier & darker & just more foreboding than the book ever did. The ending is pretty brutal...you know, the end of the third & final task...
I was disappointed with the way they did Victor Krum. I imagined him to be somewhat akward, lanky & greasy, but the actor was solid and handsome and buff....but he did a good job, too, so I forgave it.

Excellent, overall, I will go see it again, if I have the chance.

I want to see HP this weekend! How to see a movie though with a baby who won't take a bottle anymore and who only likes his momma to put him to sleep!? Maybe my mom will be up for the challenge...

bama-my vote is still for avacados

OMG Ely is adorable!

I mentioned to Paul that I'd like to go see Harry Potter and he said that we should pick a night to go. I told him it's hard for us to find a babysitter at night, because my mom lives a half an hour or so away. She's the only babysitter we've left Joey with so far. He said we could bring her to his parents' house and go to the theater in their town.

I really don't know how I feel about that. I mean, I know it's just two hours. But we're talking about the grandparents that leave their other grandson in front of the tv for hours on end while they go about their business. I'm fairly uncomfortable with that.

Anyway, Joey's cranky because of her cold. Which is making me cranky on top of my own cold crankiness. I can't wait for spring

SA-i'd be uncomfy too. leaving a baby infront of a TV isn't a very good idea. i'll admit, i'll pop in Baby Einstein if i have to use the bathroom or something just to keep him entertained for a few minutes but not for an extended period of time. do you think your mom would be willing to come over and watch Joey? half an hour isn't too far away. that's about how long it used to take me to get to work every day. i hope you get to see HP!
I'd like to see HP, too, but am getting to be pretty old-ladyish about the whole movie theater experience. The movies are always too loud, and all the commercials drive me crazy! I'm just an old crank What I'd really like is to have a fancy home theater set-up

Since I still haven't bothered to figure out the digital camera, the pics will have to wait until we take some the old-fashioned way and upload them via disc. I'm still unsure about it. I love doing different things to my hair, and have been growing out a VERY short cut for a VERY long time (about a year) so I was ready for a change. The color looks fake, which is fine, but I can't figure out if it's a good fake or a bad fake, you know?

I am leaving the house for 1.5 hours tomorrow for a free yoga class at a nearby church -- I plan to nurse Danny up good and leave him home with Miles and dh. This will be a first --hope everyone makes it all right!

Bama -- please tell me how you get to change the "senior member" thing -- I have yet to figure it out.

Happy weekend, everyone!

PS Such cute pictures, Jennie!
Meli, we have a fancy home theater set up and prefer to watch movies at home. It sounds better, no loud, rude people and you can PAUSE to pee (or deal with a child, as is more often our case).
Dh's dream is to convert the garage to a theater. It's detached, he wants to soundproof it, get a huge screen, even more speakers, a projector, movie seats, the whole shabang. Only thing is, we don't have $100,000 to blow on it. Maybe next year :::::

meli- email cynthia mosher, tell her what you'd like your senior title to be, and she'll change it within a week or so. You have over 1,000 posts, so you're good to go.

Sha--just a heads up, HP is about 2 1/2 hours....

tired, bedtime!
