June '05 mamamamas !! - Page 5

so i know we've discussed baby skills but i'm almost starting to worry about ds. you put him on his tummy and all he does is scream bloody murder. there's no way this kid will ever learn tummy skills b/c i can't put him on it. he's got very good hand coordination, passing objects from one hand to the other and such but no sign of creeping/crawling.

also, any one else out there have a boob biter? omg, i thought he was going to bite my nipple off and he still has no teeth. for now i say "ow!" in a loud voice and if that doesn't get him to let go i smush his nose into my boob. is there a way to teach him not to do this?

tummy time: mathilda detested it, and she never did learn to crawl, but she walked at 8 months. louis is crawling...or shimmying around now, but he loves his tummy time, and is impossiable to change his diaper now a days.

SA: those toys do look really nice

milk uo the nose: totally works. as i dont have the described firehose spray, i use a empty saline pipette, and just use that to put it in.

crafty moms : you officially rock, respect.

meditation: anyone know useful tips, tricks, links. Ive decided to start this again to help conquer my serious issue with flying.

hope everyone had a nice weekend, i guess all the US girls are getting ready for thanksgiving. here they celebrate the first of advent, in a no religious way though

Michelle, that's awful. I'd not be able to live like that. Is there any chance of you guys getting out of there? Oh I am so mad for you. wish I had more time to type.

Tummy Time....we spent WEEKS of screaming bloody murder, then i just let it go. quit putting him on there for a week or so, then put him on there two days ago, and Voila! He can roll from tummy ot back, and almost back to tummy. I will need another couple weeks to get him really rolling from back to tummy though

Michelle.....OOOhhh, I have heard that hispanic women can be like that, especially about their sons' baby.....aye. i would have hauled off and smacked her!

Hi all!

Just wanted to stop by and let everybody know that Iwill be taking a one week break from the computer! (AAAUUURRGGHHH!)

I'm feeling like I'm spending more time surfing and chatting than doing things I should be doing around the house...so I'm doing a self-imposed fast from all the media in my life!

It's pretty pathetic that a week without movies and the internet actualy scares me. :

So enjoy you holidays if you have them!

I had a pretty good weekend. DH and I saw Harry Potter yesterday, and my ergo arrived!!!

However, I'm kind of bummed out about two things:
1) I seem to be the only one who can put DS to bed, which is becoming a huge burden as more and more of the parenting responsibilities only I can do.

2) DS will not take milk from any other source than the tap. Again, this seems like a burden because he's eating every 1.5-2 hours so it's hard for me to get away without him for any longer. I did see a movie this weekend, but went beyond the needing to eat timeframe.

luis has started to get violent, it is real bizarre. he just wants to grab EVERYTHING and pull it towards his mouth. but this includes my hair, my skin, my chest. he has an iron grasp. it is impressive but painful.
Cully is like this, too. I put on this elastc bead necklace hoping he would play with that when he nurses, and not grab at hair/skin/nipples. It worked well until he pulled it as far back as it would go and then let go so it snapped me in the chest. :

I have tried a sippy cup - he hates it almost as much as the bottle I probably need to work harder on it so I can have some time to myself, but at the same time it's more work for me to bother than to put him on the nip.

I think babies are just wild at this age. Ely loves to pull on everything, especially while nursing. I may try to make a nursing necklace, but won't use elastic! That must have hurt, Emmy!

I'm going to need a senior name soon too - less than 20 posts to go!

Well, the phones are officially moved over to the house, and I guess that means, I'm officially a WAHM

Jennie I have no advice, just a big fat hug for you.

I am not sure but I think Luis's mom is Michelle, Sometimes you have to let them know that you do value their opinion. Maybe you could ask her about such things as what she thinks would be a good first solid food? Cereal avacado? Maybe ask her what stories she use to read to your DP when he was a boy. Make her feel like you hear her and your listening and then do what you want.

Nolan has been waking up at night but not to eat just to snuggle with my boob and then back to sleep he goes! I guess that is good? I don't know

We have started giving Nolan tastes of cereal. I figure that it isn't bad to let him taste but I have to keep telling my husband that its not to be a meal just to let him feel like hes eating like everyone else. He is very interested in what we all do. I like the idea of cereal first because I can mix it with breastmilk and give it a more familiar taste.

Well I have to get going Ali is awake of course and wants a snack again! I'm surprised shes not a porker!

MIL's: i agree with angel that your the mom, end of story, but it could be diplomatic to ask lots of questions about hoe she did it with DP and the like, so she feels her thoughts are important. but i think i remeber you saying before that she was a little 'special' in that she wasnt so kids friendly as most in peru?

oh no all is jumpng ship this week, it will be so dark and lonely

jennie: i feel for you. mathilda wouldnt take a bottle, and i couldnt pump, so i could just waste milk practising, its hard. ((HUGS))

i thought i was being really cleaver and see that Louis feel asleep with rocking from day one, he loved it, and i thought it would mean that the putting to be could be shared....oh how things work theroretically

angel- wait hold up, your name is not angel but bonnie?? i am surprised. i was convinced you were angel.

Actually, I never gave him a bottle until he decided to reject them at 3.5 months. My parents and DH were the ones to give him bottles. I always thought like Emmy - bottles are for when the boobs have left the building. I guess the boobs didn't leave the building enough I'm trying a sippy cup with a cold nipple and cold water - I'm hoping he'll like it because it will feel good on his gums. I also just made some momsicles DS has been fussy fussy fussy today and I think his gums are hurting him along with needing some sleep. He just took a 3 hour nap, so now I'm going to tackle the gums.

checking in...at my mom's...

jennie...try one of those soft silicone spout nuby cups from wmart...1.47.....they are working better

Avent makes the sippy lids to fit their bottles
post #100 of 185
I have the Avent sippy cup. I may try a nuby one. I got Ely to take a little bit of cold water, but he still made the gross face. He may like cold milky. He also didn't want him momsicle I don't really blame him - why would you want to drink from anything else than a nice, soft, warm, sweet smelling nipple?

The great part of my day was the Ergo - he loves it and I love it too! The back carry is so easy and he's happy in it, not pulling my hair or squirming all over the place.
