North Carolina Homebirth

Thread Starter
I have read the previous posts about North Carolina and home births. My cousin lives about an hour south of Ashville and is looking for a midwife for a homebirth. She is not yet pregnant, but hoping to be soon. If anyone knows of a midwife in that area who will do homebirths, please let me know.

Thanks - Chelsea (momma@sperger.com)

there's 2 in Asheville, if she'd be comfortable w/ having them an hour away:
Fairview Women's Health~ 828)628-1119
New Dawn Midwifery~ 828)236-0032
If that's too far away maybe one of them could recomend someone closer.
Teel her good luck on getting pg

Thanks!

I'll pass that info on to her. I spoke to her the other day and she said she found one group, but they wouldn't do a homebirth in Bryson. Maybe these will work for her...

Wow! I used New Dawn, and they are GREAT!!! I am not sure how far they will go for a homebirth, I would imagine that they would like to be close enough in case of fast labor or problems. They do require that a hospital be no more than 30 minutes away from the home. Good Luck to your cousin!!

Glad you were pleased, Laura! I'm planning on a homebirth for our next (as yet hypothetical) child, so that's good to know. The midwife that I had for dd was perfect, but the practice won't do a homebirth 'cause they're affiliated w/ the hospital system.
