Where in the butt cheek?

High up? Like top of the back or the butt cheek? MIght be SI joint pain. I get that a lot.

Or smack in the middle? Pelvic pain or muscular.

Outside? Sciatic pain.

The butt is a big place. Especially on me right now.

it goes right down the middle of the left cheek, from the top of the hip through the back of my leg. it hurts too bad to walk at times.

Hmmm...sounds like my SI joint pain. There is a ligament at the back of your pelvis/lower back.... http://www.spineuniversity.com/publi...esub.asp?id=89

And mine hurts like the dickens if I don't do crunches daily...which of course...I haven't been doing lately.

Welcome to the world of sciatica and SI joint pain! I feel like I have a blowtorch in my cheek half the time. I use a rice sock on my cheek and do stretches.

I get this as well in pregnancy and yes it sounds like you have sciatica and SI joint pain. Yoga makes a world of difference for me. I get my yoga books and videos from the library. I get leg cramps too and have to eat bananas to make it go away!

yeeouch, had sciatic pain during first preg. refered to it as the pain in my "back n ass". Yes, I took ibeprophen(sp?) and once I could walk I had to do stretches. Stopped wearing heels over two inches (funny to remember those days) and never NEVER crossed legs at the knee. Aside from all the other negative things crossing your legs does, it apparently puts pressure on that area. Warm bean bag was very helpful too. I have only had it one other time and it was likely because I backslide on the stretching. Thought in my head "Gotta stretch it like Gumbi, so the back n ass pain doesn't come back" take care, I hope you find "your" way to relief.

Cat/Cow pose and child's pose work great when not pregnant....Currently I can only do a modified Child's pose. It sucks.

Sounds like sciatic nerve and SI joint pain to me too. I've had it/them/whichever one and no... it's not fun at all. Sorry you're going through it.

Ah yes, the pain in my a** that let's me know I'm having another baby...

The Chiropractor does a world of good for my sciatica & if you can manage to go during pregnancy it really helps the baby line up & prepare your body for birth.

You can do the cat/cow during pregnancy with some modification. Basically you just keep your back straight for the cow part. I still arch my head back and my back a little when I do it. You can also do some other really nice things in that hands and knees position. Try dropping your head down and rotating your hips in circles. It is wonderful. Then you can bend from side to side bringing your head and hip towards one another on each side. Then you can rest in baby pose with your legs spread to let your belly drop down.

Love,
Leslie

Hey are you feeling any better?

I did a 90 minute prenatal yoga tape the other day that was pretty hard, but I felt really good afterwards. My husband says when I do yoga that my posture improves a lot.

Maybe going to see a chiropractor too would really help. The woman who made the tape is also a chiropractor, and she recommends going a week or two before birth at least to make sure everything is aligned for a healthy birth. But of course she would say that.

Hairpin-
What prenatal tape did you do? I am always looking for a good one. Usually the prenatal ones are not enough of a workout for me and so I modify the poses in the regular tapes.
Yoga helps me relax during round ligament pain as well and also helps keep my abs stretched.
