Here's the official birth announcement- I hope this link works:

www.ezrabailey.com

Well, I was in labor all right! I'm writing the birth story in my head and will send more details later, but at 10am I wasn't sure if I was in labor, talked to a few friends on the phone, emailed a few people to let them know something might be up, and I had him by noon. The midwife wasn't even here yet and Matt delivered him (she walked in about 2 mins. later!) It was a lot more painful than last time but short, thank goodness!! I'm glad we were planning a homebirth b/c there was no way this could have been anything other than that!

He was 7# 9oz- two whole pounds heavier than Ethan- and yes, it sure felt like it coming out! I'm really sore and not as able to be up and around like I was last time. I only have a small tear.

He started nursing very soon after birth and has been nursing a lot ever since- I cried when he latched on for the first time- I so hope he will be my good nurser. Just the fact that he is bigger and more fully cooked I think will make a huge difference.

It's been really crazy and tough so far with a 3 yo and the baby- poor dh is taking care of him, me, the baby, the house, making calls, etc- he is just running himself ragged, in addition to mentally processing the fact that he just delivered his son and it was kind of scary for him b/c the cord was around the neck. I feel bad that I can't do more to help but I honestly can't move around much or deal with toddler tantrums.

Anyway, we're in love and sooooo thankful that it was a quick delivery and everything is ok!! He does have some kind of swollen lymph nodes at his armpit that I hope are not anything serious- we're going to the ped Monday and she didn't think it sounded like a big deal, but of course I worry.

Love to all you mamas

Wow!!! Congratulations, and big hugs, and virtual arnica!!!!
(Well done to your hubby- mine seems to think fast labours are contagious, and he's fretting that the midwife won't arrive on time Imagine, though, having your husband catching your own kid- so cool )

I completely relate here. I'm worried because dh is exhausting himself... but at the same time he's really experiencing toddlerhood for extended periods of time so it's a growing experience for him.

AWESOME BIRTH STORY!!! : What's up with these quick second births? Wow... two whole pounds bigger? I thought I could really feel the difference with my measly half pound bigger but two whole pounds has got to add up to completely different world.

Welcome Ezra...congrats mama!!

Congrats! He is a beautiful little boy!

My 2nd was also two whole pounds bigger than my first. 6lbs 12oz, then 8lbs 12oz....and I didn't notice much difference when pushing. We can't wait to see how big #3 will be.

Congrats again and have a wonderful babymoon!!!!

Wow! How exciting! I'm glad you decided to go for the homebirth too!

He's a total cutie! I love the name too--Ezra is my nephew's name and he's one of the best kids in the world! It goes well with your last name too.

Congratulations and enjoy your time with your baby and your new family! I know how you feel about your DH--I don't have a toddler but I've felt the same way about my husband. However, it's a short period of time and then he'll go back to work and I'll have to fend for myself, so I'm trying to just take advantage of the time.
