Clomid anyone?

Short luteal phase and Clomid. I went on Clomid for the first time this month, no luck. I had lots of side effects, weight gain, hot flashes, moodiness, ovulation pain, etc. I still only had a 24 day cycle! My prog. score 8 days after ov was a 2.9 and it should have been 11 or 12. I have been charting my temps for years and knew that I had a short luteal phase. The opk's say that I ovulate every month, but my luteal phase is only 7 days. The re says that he will put me back on Clomid, 100 mg. or a Clomid equivalent, then add progesterone suppositories. I took the progesterone orally in the Spring and had terrible side effects. I took the suppositories this cycle, but was unable to stop my period.

Has anyone had experience with this? I am wondering if it is necessary to go back on Clomid, or if all I need is progesterone. I have a DD, 2 1/2, and had no problems conceiving or during pregnancy. I have been ttc for 11 months now and am so frustrated! I would love to talk to others who have had similar problems.

I'm on clomid right now. I'm in the middle of my sixth clomid cycle. The first three months were 50mg. The last three, including this cycle, were 100mg. The 100mg really helped lenghten my cycle. I did have some moodyness and a little O pain, but not too bad.
From what I understand the clomid is probably important to your progesterone production as it optimizes ova production. That in turn improves the function of the cyst taht is left behind after O, that produces progesterone. I guess it's possible you need to up your dossage again?

I hope this is helpful. Good luck in your TTC journey.

Will he be tracking your follicles to see if you are responding? I never got pg on clomid, and feel like I wasted a lot of time on it (that and trying to find another doctor and insurance). Anyway, take care.

Robyn, I'm in nearly the same boat as you. But, I have a long cycle, o late, and spot for several days after O up until AF. My dr wants to put me on Clomid for low p too. But, he will not supplement with p.

You didn't say what dose of Clomid you are on? You may need to increase your dose. And, have him do an ultrasound to check your follies on cd11/12 - that way he'll now if that dosage is working for you.

GL!
