Can an embroidery machine...

do buttonholes? Dh thinks I'm nuts. I can sew a zipper, I've made clothes for the kids, lounge pants for him, skirts for myself, but I'm really interested in an embroidery machine and I can't do buttonholes to save my life. Is there a machine that can do both?

What kind of machine do you reccommend?

I have a bernina 180 and it can do button holes (and embriodery). I love it!

I have the Brother 270D and it's an embroidery/sewing machine and can do buttonholes.

Hi, They have embroidery machines that are strictly that. It only does embroderies. Then they have some machines that have an embroidery module that hooks into the sewing machine. So the latter will be able to do BOTH.

The two I have can do Both. A Husqvarna Designer 1 and the Bernina Artista 200E. The Bernina DECO is strictly a embroidery machine.

I just had to drool for a min My MIL just traded in her 180 for the 200, it is so cool!

I will just stick with my 7 year old 180 untill it dies!

Hi, Actually, I just got it and I am still learning. It seems to be a little more difficult to use than my Designer 1. As a matter of fact, I was looking and thinking about getting the Bernina 180 since it was going to be a second machine, I did not want to spend too much but the larger color screen sold me on it. I also did not want to trade up later. I wanted the best so that I would not hope and pray anymore.

Yes, they have machines that are strictly embroidery and machines that will do embroidery and sewing.

I have a husqvarna viking platinum 950E (step below the designer 1) and it does both. I absolutly it. It has an automatic button hole thingie-mer-bobber that I dont know how to use
