Are you dilating at all?? Does it look like this is labour, or strong BH trying to shift this baby round? Do you FEEL like you're in labour?
Based on my experiences with Alex (my first), he was transverse at 37 weeks and 5 days, and literally turned whilst I was being prepared for a c-section. This is, frankly, very rare- but from what I hear, a late shift in position is more likely to happen with a second or subsequent mom than it is a first-timer. I was having strong contractions to turn him, but they were "backwards" contractions: I visualised my body squeezing downwards, rather than upwards like in labour.
Transverse lay is one very good reason to have a section, because baby literally can't come out that way- there isn't a presenting part to put pressure on the cervix. I'd find a midwife and ask her to assess the situation and see what she thinks, even if there's no way you'd feel able to book a homebirth.

My dd was transverse also, she moved there when she was coming down, in the last few weeks...

I was in labor for 18 hours and after 6 and a half hours of sitting at 7cm, at the hospital to boot,(and for up to 2 hours at home before we transferred) I had a section...there was no baby to dilate my cervix...my mw said she couldn't feel hair, but that was because dd's shoulder was kinda wedged in there...if your babe doesn't turn and you have a section DO NOT feel bad about it, transverse IS a true valid reason for a section...and if the babe isn't going to move, despite your best efforts, there is truly nothing else you can do.

: all goes well for you.
