Does anyone have a 'gears' toy/set for their dc that they really love?

I know we're talking plastic toys here, but does anyone have one of those gear set toys that your dc loves? If so, tell me about it. How does it work? Would it be easy for an almost 4 year old to use? Does it get alot of use, or is it something that is played with once or twice and forgotten?

Last year, I remember seeing a set in a toy catalog I got (Construction Playthings, maybe?), but I can't seem to find the same set this year. The one I remember seeing was some sort of award winning toy and looked really neat and was affordable too.

Someone help me out here!

My now 15 year old DD had a couple of sets when she was little, I don't remember the brand now, but I know it began with a "Q" and was made in Italy. She loved it, she especially the set with flowers. I will do a search and come back and edit my post if I can find the ones we had online. I know a local toystore here carries them and they have a website.

My boys are 2 1/2 and they just figured out how to work their gears toy. I lost the box so I don't remember the name. It did start with a "q", though. I think it was an Italian name. Quadrilla? Quaderella? They enjoy it. They don't play with it for a long time, but every once in a while we take it out and it keeps them busy for about 30 minutes.

Our toy library has the gears gears gears set shown here http://www.toys2wish4.com/gears.html

I haven't seen any othere to compare it to but it seems sturdy and fits together well. The children enjoy playing with it. DD is only 15 months but loves turning the handle and pulling the gears off the board.
