Jenn- I see what you're saying, but I also wish I had more of an 'excuse' for being more limited in what I'm doing! Well, I do have an excuse (he did see that baby come out up close and personal! ), but I feel like I have to help out dh with all he's doing....and I sort of wish I had more reason to be forced to not get up and do anything. Since I got the infection he sees how serious it is that I rest though, so now I am getting to take it easy a little more and he is 'forcing' me to take a nap today and go to bed early tonight.

I hope your healing goes well, and hope you can be comfortable lying down soon. Oh, a recliner sounds really nice, wish we had one of those! And enjoy the downtime...it'll be over all too soon, I'm sure

We came home from the hospital when Joseph was 2 days old and stopped at the grocery store on the way home since dh didn't go shopping while I was in the hospital. With my blood loss that was not a good idea and I ended up sitting in the truck with Joseph half the time he was in there. Yesterday when he was 5 days old I went in to a store quickly to pick up more pads ugh! We then went and spent a couple hours at a park so dd could run around and play. I spent the vast majority of the time sitting in a chair we had brought with us since the benches seemed too hard. Both times pain was not an issue and if it weren't for the blood loss I would have been fine being out doing those things. I get tired so easy right now that I don't plan to do much more then sitting at a park with dd for a couple weeks.

I had to go to the ER the day after my lovely home birth because I had a kidney infection and a temp of 104.1. So dd got to go on her first outing when she was a day old from home to the hospital (talk about backwards ). I then had to go to the doctor when she was five days old and after all that I figured taking her to church at 10 days old would be just fine (and she's fine so far!) because my dad was in town from thousands of miles away and was preaching that Sunday. Then the day after that dd had her first dr. appointment and we took her to see my co-workers at the bank afterwards (since it's right by the dr. office).

I think whenever you feel up to it is fine. I didn't feel up to it the day after (obviously) but the baby was fine even if I wasn't! My mom and dh came with so dh held my hand and my mom held my dd.

love and peace.

BensMom: I can't imagine being that up and around either, actually. We're 6 days pp and I've only now healed enough that I can wear pants comfortably, not to mention getting out and walking around the grocery store!

Although, DH and my mom and I went out to brunch this morning, and that wasn't too bd -- although sitting on the chairs in the diner had me running home for a hot bath. But I wanted Elliot's first outing to be somewhere a little classier than the pediatrican's office, you know?

Let's see:

Baby #1 (36 weeker): went to Golden Corral on the way home from the hospital (40 hrs old), went to Target the next day.

Baby#2 (34 weeker): went to Target on the way home from the hospital (34 hrs old), went to church the next day.

Baby #3 (33 weeker - NICU for 5 days): went to church 2 weeks after delivery, other than that only to pedi office.

We have our first outing (dd's dr appt) planned today and I am a bit terrified. LOL My mom is coming so that will help.

I've debated going to a few local stores for errands while my mom is here this week to get some more "practice" going out - but with the time of year it is I think staying put at home is better for us.

We do try to get outside for some fresh air when possible, usually sitting on the front porch. The weather has been weird here so we've only done a walk once.
