So tonight at dinner, FIL asks me "Are you still nursing?" To which I respond with a big grin "Yup." And I realize that without saying so I know that he asked cause he wanted to know that my 22 month old was still getting his mama milk. It's wonderful cause from his projected appearance he would not seem to be a BFing advocate.
This Rush Limbaugh loving old school, old fashioned uber conservative, with no means of communication with his wife, son or anyone in his family, has been sooo sooo supportive of my BFing my son. He told me when DS was 11 months how great it was that I was nursing, and that there is no such relationship that can ever exost between two people as wonderful as a mother nursing her child.
We visited his mother last summer DS was around 18 months and she's 88 years old. And as she watched my son nurse shwe would look on wistfully and say "Oh, I wish I had nursed mine past a year, but it was so hard back then (in the 1930') to Breastfeed. I looved being there with great grandma. I tried to convince her how wonderful it is that she breastfed all 7 of her kids, at all, much less most of them for a full year, even more so in a time when women were not supprted for their choice to breast feed.
How lucky am I to have found such a great family to hook up with?
