Yup, it was the real thing. After a really intense day of massive natural labor attempts (if any of you want the regimen, PM me - I got it from a naturopath and it's intense but worked for me), I started labor around 10:30-11 pm, stayed up all night with them except for maybe an hour of sleep, and we called in the calvary (mil, doula, midwife) around 4am. Midwife didn't get there until 9am...but we had a great labor and baby was born around 1 in the afternoon, after two hours of pushing in the labor tub. Now, that may seem long, but he was 9lbs 1oz and I'm a somewhat petite person. I did not tear though, thank goodness.
He is a little postdates - cracked, dry skin and long nails - not a bad price to pay for at least getting to be born at home. One more day and I would have had to go into the hospital for induction with a random OB. I guess we work best under deadlines, although we're procrastinators...
Now all we have to do is name him! Flyingspaghettibaby just won't do...
