No Meeting, Want to become a leader

I'm in a town where the meeting has died. I'm a passsionate encourager of breastfeeding and am organizing a carpool to another town to get to go to a meeting with a couple of other new mamas.

Is there any way anyone knows to become a leader without a meeting sponsor me? We need one here.....and I'm willing and interested.

They have meetings online now. I'm not sure whether or not they can take the place of real-life meetings. You'd have to get involved with them to find out.

It can be done. How far away is the meeting you drive to? If it's an unreasonable distance, you might be able to apply as "isolated". Or, so I heard. Talk to your Leader or call 1-800-LALECHE for more details.

It is my understanding that you can be an applicant without being directly under a group.

I live 1 1/2hours away from the nearest city (and group). I was accepted as a Leader applicant (I didn't finish). I had a LLL Leader who sponsored me - we would arrange appointments where her and I would sit together and go through the various steps and discussions that are required. I suppose at some point I would have had to help her lead a group, before I was completely approved. But most of the stuff I could work on, on my own.

They (LLL local leaders) and her (my sponsoring leader) both did know me pretty well, I had attended meetings in that city a few times before we moved out to the rural area.

I know that they seemed to encourage new leaders - either to start new meetings in new locations, or even to just do the on-line and telephone help.
