Triandum nursing twins and 20month old toddler

I have been nursing my toddler throughout my pregnancy anticipating that I would tandem nurse her and a the new baby. She is currently 19 months old and still very much loves to nurse.

Last wednesday I found out I am having twins. I'm 34 weeks along and hope to carry them to 38 weeks.

My plan, so far, is to nurse the babies first (of course) and just hope I have some time and energy left to allow my toddler to nurse. I also will be seeking support from my LLL of course. I've been talking with a friend and leader and she is lending me her personal copy of Mothering Multiples.

It just seems that there is little info. out there about nursing twins and a toddler. If anyone knows of any mother's stories in a book or online, I'd love to read them.

Lindsay, in the appendix of a "twins" book that I have there are these websites:
www.twinsfoundation.com
www.twinsmagazine.com
I KNOW that I've read about nursing twins & a toddler somewhere I just can't think of where...? Maybe in Dr.Sears "Breastfeeding" book? I'll see if I can find it tomorrow...

Congratulations on twins, Lindsay! Skipping over the tandem into triandem must be quite a jolt. It'll certainly be a juggle. Just take good care of yourself, water intake and good calories. And give yourself ample time to adjust. It's not always going to be easy, and your entire family is going through the transition with you so they are adjusting as well.
I don't have twins, but i do triandem nurse. And when i had my 3rd i just told myself that i could do this for one year and i focused on that when it got rough in the adjusting phase. I passed the year mark easily. Once you get the hang of it....

Good luck, stay gestating a few more weeks, and then just go with the flow whatever that might be for you.

join the apmultiples group on yahoo - I'm sure there are others in your position...

I had my twins first & TBH they nursed ALL the time - not sure how I would have fit a 20 month old in there...

OTOH I got pg again when my twins were just 6 months old & had a newborn and a 15 month old nursing (one twin weaned during the pregnancy) and my 15 month old was pretty patient... when he turned 2 he nursed a lot more again but that time when Jake was a newborn Max was not so bad....
