Can anyone help explain types of material?

I haven't done sewing in a very long time and now I'm inspired.... just need help remembering names and types of material. Like what is the difference between a Crepe Georgette and Charmeuse? stuff like that. what kind of material is good for sewing what?

is there a site somewhere for dodo heads like me to refresh my memory?

sewingmamas.com has a great online encyclopedia that has most fabrics listed in it. Also readers digest has a book out (i think its called "the readers digest guide to sewing" or something like that) which has 2 or 3 pages listing practically every sort of fabric and a picture. I don't think it has the best uses for them though.

Oh geeze. Crepe and charmeuse? I could tell you a corduroy from a satin-weave silk, but I don't even know about crepe and charmeuse.

If you need help telling cotton flannel from poly knit though, you've got the right person to help. :LOL:
