Ina Garten - Page 2

We love Alton Brown!!! My husband likes to watch him for the recipes, I just like to watch him. His show is awesome. I love learning the science behind the recipes. We use his brownie recipe a lot. It is delicious.
But we love Paula. She is so down to earth and real. I am a Yank, and her southern accent just makes me smile. Her recipes are rich, but wondeful. I can always count on her to add a stick of butter, a cup of mayonaise, sour cream, or cream cheese, but the great thing is that she has such a sense of humor about it.
Sandra Lee is so annoying. Everything is either 'fantastic' or 'fabulous.' So irritating. And those tablescapes at the end of the show, who really does all that?
Giada, I think, is on to increase the male viewership.
We like Rachael Ray too. But she gets on my nerves, especially her $40 a Day show.
Can you tell we watch a lot of Food Network?

We watch Good Eats every darn week, AB rocks! Rachel Ray makes me nuts. She is just so overblown. She can't say anything without making a huge goofy face and waving her arms around. Try watching her without the sound on. Bet you can't keep from cracking up.

Know who really gets on my nerves? that Everyday Italian one - Giada? Something like that? she also gets semi-orgasmic over her own cooking, and the camera work on that show drives me berserk.

Ok Nigella also sounds orgasmic when she is licking her fingers, but I am guessing you like that!? and don't think she is stuck up at all. I have not seen her show in ages and have no idea when or what channel it is on but I loved it when I did see it.

I agree though that Giada is not a good host either, and she does NOT look like she eats ANY of what she makes, what is she like 5 pounds wet!

Rachel Ray is awesome too but I didn't like her magazine, too foo foo inside, not at all like I think of her. She is also supposed to be getting her own talk show next year.

I didn't know she did not name that store, but she seems to think of herself in that way, kwim?

...and the Rachel Ray machine keeps growing-She just signed on with Oprah, so watch out (or don't, actually) for the overexposure! Can't stand her voice, but like that she was just an average Jill who got on her local TV and got noticed.

Love love Paula Deen! And concur with a pp about her hunky boys! Mmmm...she can serve them up to me with a side of buttery biscuits! I like some of the ideas on Semi-Homemade, and Alton cracks me up! I loved his kitchen makeover! Paula's too! The new one that I'd LOVE to be privvy to is Sugar Rush! Ay ay ay!

:

The thing about Rachel is that she always seems to be struggling not to blow up. her voice is frequently raspy like she's been screaming "EVOO!!" for the last 10 hours, and her clothes always look ready to split at the seams. She is such a swirling mass of energy that any moment I expect to see her just explode.

Her food seems pretty good, though.

Ina doesn't bother me so much, but her husband does. I hate that they always have shots of him driving his luxury convertible up from the city on Fridays so his wife can prepare dinner for him.

Giada I cannot stand. CANNOT stand to watch her. What is it with her mouth? She has this weird smile that she keeps plastered on her face while she talks about everything. "And now I'm going to grate the nutmeg for my butternut squash lasagna -- obnoxious cheshire cat grinning-- this is going to be SO good! grinning And then I am going to use four grin amaretti cookies to give it a little bite HUGE mouth movements that is just going to make this over the top!"

Yes, that is a real recipe. She made squash lasagna with cream sauce, amaretti cookies, and nutmeg as a side dish for Thanksgiving. No, it was not dessert. It was supposed to be savory.

Another Alton Brown fan here too! I love knowing the science behind cooking and I love seeing him on Iron Chef America. I used to be a big Rachael Ray fan but lately, I have a hard time watching her which is sad because she has 15894365125 shows on the Food Network so it's hard not to watch her. But I find that if I take a Rachael break, I can find the lvoe again for a little while.

Love Paula Deen!!!

YES! She looks like some freakish bobble-head doll. Do you ever watch Recipe for Success? There are two hosts, and the female host also has a huge, freakish mouth. Looks like a muppet.

I, of course, am perfect.

Rachel Ray bugs me, I heard Anthony Bourdain giving her the smackdown once, it was pretty funny - he busted her $40 a Day show ranting "SHE DOESN'T TIP ANYONE!!!!"

I've met AB. He is awesome.

I love Mario Batali too. The music for Molto Mario is great!

I like Rachel Ray's recipes but I can't stand her $40/Day Show. Puleeez! It's not hard to find food in any city for $40/day per person. If she wants a challenge she should do it on $20/day!

She came to Hawaii in one episode and went to a few places that DH and I have never heard of and we've lived in Hawaii for over 20 years. We were laughing our a**es off because none of the locals would go to those places.

I love Anthony Bourdain. I've watched all his shows. Too bad he's not on the Cooking Channel anymore. His No Reservations show on the Travel Channel is hilarious. Is there anything he won't eat? There's no one else with his kind of sarcastic wit on the travel or cooking channel.

Everyday Italian... Um, if you're supposed to be an Italian chef, should you really be using *jarred* pasta sauce??? That chick cracks me up.

I really love Chef at Home with Michael Smith. Do you all get that on FN in the US? He's in PEI.

We like to watch Barefoot Contessa and get shocked over the richness of the food! Anyone know if her husband is 'new'? We were wondering if they're putting on a show or just newly married... I don't know anyone that's been married for any length of time and is quite so touchy-feely.

Ina reminds me of my old boss, which is part of the reason I watch her. My boss is so much like her. I've never tried any of her recipes, they do look awfully rich, but I think Paula Dean's are probably just as rich. She loves her butter and fat. I watch Paula Dean every now and then. Rachel Ray is okay, I used to really like her, but I think she is getting over exposed (like Emeril). I did try her Pizza Pasta Salad and I thought it was really good.

Of course my man is Alton. I love Good Eats right down to the opening dialogue and music. Sara Lee is okay she has some interesting ideas but I've never made anything from her show either.

Ummm..excuse me? Alton Brown is MY boyfriend
I love Good Eats because it teaches the real science of cooking, as well as great recipes, and is a blast to watch. Try his pumpkin bread. I credit AB with helping me master the art of homemade bread. Watch his bread shows if they are ever on - they're so good.
Giada looks like she spits out the little bites she takes of her food as soon as the camera cuts away. Sandra Lee just cracks me up,;she's like a train wreck - repulsiive, yet I can't look away.
i tried watching Ina Garten but again, its just too fattening and too pricey for me. I'm sorry but I just can't seem to find the time to hop on my private jet and fly to Paris to go buy some $400-an-ounce cheese and rare herbs cultivated from the top of Mount Olympus to serve with my olive oil thats been handled only by 15 year old vestal virgins.
