40 ish book loving mamas?

Hi all -

I took my boys to New York City to the American Museum of Natural History, and while there, was reminded of a book I read as a child in the 1970s, about 2 kids who get locked into the museum overnight. It was a favorite of mine, and I'm just dying to read it with my kids. However, I can't remember the title.

I asked at the museum, and they remembered the book, and used to have it in their gift shop, but it is out of print, and nobody can remember the title.

I've asked at my local library, the New York public library, my local bookstore, emailed Alibris and Powells books, asked all of my friends, googled, yahooed, bookfindered, everything I can think of. Without the title or author, it's just impossible to find.

Does anybody out there remember this book?

Thanks so much!

Hi,

This is a pregnancy and birth loss forum, so I think your question may be better answered maybe in TAO or in Books, Music, and other Media.

Is it "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Franweiler"?

Thanks, but that one is about the Museum of Modern Art. I'm looking for the Museum of Natural History.

By the way, sorry about posting in the wrong forum - I'm a rookie here!
