My friend would like to know...

We are not at the "rolling stage" yet, so I don't have any advice but my friend would like to know about this...

"Dh is going out of town of business shortly. At this point M. still sleeps with us 90% of the time. If she goes down really early and I am not ready to go down with her I'll put her in her crib until either I go to bed (sometimes I can't help myself and I'll go get her and bring her into bed) or until she wakes up around 3am to eat then she'll spend the remainder with us.
The reason I put in her in crib when she goes down early is because she rolls ALL OVER the place while she's sleeping and I'm afraid she'll fall off the bed. When dh is is bed it doesnt matter because we both block the "exits". With him away that will leave the whole one side open.
For those co sleeping and with babies that roll all over the place what do you do??"

TIA.

bed in the corner, on the floor (no frame, just boxspring), with pillows at the edge of the bed and all over the floor. if she rolls out, she lands on pillows and she's only fallen about 6-8 inches.

One time when staying at a hotel, we used the sheet to keep ds in place by tucking/wrapping it around his waist so he could move towards me but not away. Hard to explain, maybe someone else could describe better?

Otherwise, the next to wall, with pillows works great.

I would push it against the wall if possible- just for while he's away. Or use a toddler bed gate on the open side.

Because of dh's job, it's often just ds and I in bed together. He's also a very mobile sleeper. The only way for us was pushing the bed up against the wall. We don't have a headboard so that means on three sides he's completely boxed in. He's never headed for the foot of the bed so far. We feel safe this way.

Our bed is also on the floor.

But my younger ds napped/went to sleep in the evening whever I was. On the couch beside me, or in the sling while I did other things.

we have bedrails, then use pillows as a buffer between dd and the rail.
