my dh is a huge Dead fan & we have Sooooooooo many shows - some from here, some from friends, and we even hooked a tape deck up to our computer so we could put some of the old tapes onto cd

My disclaimer: the Grateful Dead allows taping & trading of the shows as long as it's not for profit. I know there was some flap about it recently, but I think there was a concern about shows being downloaded & sold. I'm sure there is at least one Dick's Picks album from 77 too, if you just want to go buy something.
hope this helps!

Kate

p.s where in CT are you from? We are in CO but moving back to CT next year!

I have tons, mostly late 70's, including quite a few from '77, but mostly on tape. I have some on computer in MP3 that I might be able to send electronically, but not sure if those are '77-ish or not.

I was under the impression they shut down the archive for downloading and now it is to be streaming only?

I can totally appreciate why the band was having philosophical issues with the vault. Tape trading was always s'posed like, well, this--not a massive sight where you DL anything without ever talking to a human being.

If you don't mind getting some a bit late, I can send you tape, but only if you can copy them yourself and send the originals back, as I have no dubbing machine or equipement to computerize them.

Is there a particular show he is looking for? I'm not real up on my triivia, but that was a very good year. If I'm not mistaken they did a show at Barton Hall n Ithaca with arguably the best Scarlet>Fire sequence ever. Pretty sure that was 77.

Some stuff is also availabel for DL from itunes musice store (link from apple.com, I think) but that is problematic as they break it up into tracks, and then the software constantly shuffles the order, destroyingt he integrity of the show.
