Anyone who did NOT like the latest Harry Potter?

We just saw it with my DH and we were very disapointed. We LOVEd the first 3, but this one was WAY OFF.
Way too many sexual messages (I have nothing against sex, it just did not fit Harry Potter movie) and just way too much evil and darkness. And Harry seemes to have very low self-esteem.
The seen in the bathtub (hottub) was really weird. And I just did not like the whole movie in fact. It just was not the same any more. It felt like it was way to americanized (sp?). Too much high school things going on in there.
And I did not like the idea of the game - manly the one in the water - the kids tided up to those poles! WIERD!
This was our first date with my DH in months and it sucked! We were saying we'd be better off shopping or having lunch!

I have not read or watched any of the Harry Potters but all my sisters are crazy about the books and although they all liked the other movies they said that this one did not follow the book well and was pretty over the top in some areas. it s too bad.

Have you read the books?

There were parts of the movie that I disliked, but more because it was out of context with what was written in the books. This was a very dark book, Harry does have low self-esteem (and will continue in the next book as well), the loved ones were tied to the poles in the water scene, etc are all parts of the book.

The bathtub scene with Moaning Mertle did actually happen in the book, but I think the movie drew it out a bit, probably a bit too much!

And yeah, it did seem like high school. But really, the kids would be in highschool, so I guess that makes sense!

No, I have not read the books, but I am sure there are much better, specially the last one.
I have hear from a true Harry Potter fans that they did not like the last movie that much either.
I guess I just did not like some of the ideas. Maybe it's because I am pregnant

I was a bit disappointed with the movie mainly because so many important plot set-ups were completely ignored. I thought that the most succesful scenes were actually the ones dealing with the teenage angst the characters are beginning to deal with, I thought they seemed very normal and funny.
I also liked the FX as far as they went, I was just bummed that soooo much was left out and I wondered if it would even make sense at all to someone who hadn't read the books.

: But I liked it overall because it's Harry freaking Potter.
