This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I loved those books too. I keep hoping she will write another one with Ayla and Jondular's child. Ayla is such a powerful woman in the community, it's a shame it seems to be done.
Anyway, along those lines:
Linda Lay Shuler Let the Drum Speak (3 in the series I think) very good
Sue Harrison Song of the River, Mother Earth Father Sky and a few others
W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear People of the Mists, People of the Masks etc. both have own books too these books are really good. I've read quite a few, their writing style is very easy to read, packed with a lot of information.
I know there are a few more really good authors but I can't seem to find the books, hope these are of some interest. Also, you might try some Marian Zimmer Bradley, not exactly like the others but some titles brush on the strong woman bend. (Mists of Avalon series)
as I get ready to send this I know I am missing a really big one but I can't seem to remember!
:
enjoy!!!

Have you read Diana Gabaldon? She's also in the midst of a long series: Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross and her latest, A Breath of Snow & Ashes. (I think that's the right order, but I may have mixed up a couple in the middle!)
She's great on detail & historical accuracy & she writes a LOT faster than JA (but, then, who doesn't???!). She also thinks that she's got one or two more books left in the series; she generally takes about 3 years to produce a book.
I love this series almost as much as EC.

I've seen that author in the library, she is on my list "to look". Some of her stuff looks pretty interesting. Thanks for the recommendation. Yes, JA does seem to take her time, doesn't she... You almost have to reread the last book before you can pick up the new one, just to get into the characters again!
MRD - I am going to look at that site right now, thanks for the info!!
