What have you all sewed for Christmas gifts or other new things? I want to see what people have made. Post your pics.

I'll start: these are little bags for my sister, and me.

I love the purse you made.

I made a knitting roll for my mom.

It's fun to make. I'm planning to make another one for MIL.

Those bags are too cute!

I love the knitting needle roll. I'm getting ready to make one for my grandma for Christmas (only we'll be calling it a crochet hook roll lol).

My recent sewing stuff (minus a few things) are in my blog (link in sig).

I finished up these potholders yesterday morning. I had a terrible time with the bias tape. After completing this though, I feel a little more confident working with it. I've realized the key to going around corners is to steam and shape.

I guess I'll show these here too, I used some glass etching stuff to make these candle holders for my SIL's. I know they arn't sewn, but oh well.

Oh, steam! I, too, had problems with bias tape. They are very pretty pot holders. I like the candle holders, too. Very cool.

Those are all great projects and are giving me ideas for next year already. I suppose I really should be thinking of Valentine's Day and Easter before next Xmas.

If you go to my blog at www.xanga.com/knitsteel, you can see the Prince cape and pink Princess-ish outfit that I made for the kids for Xmas.

Okay, this is my very first sewing project. It took me weeks to cut a simple pattern and put this together. Now that this is done, I am 3/4 way through a queen size rag quilt that I will post as well. It too is made from Amy Butler fabric, but from the Free Spirit flannel line.

Thank you, Thank you!

I just finnished the cut out to make myself a dress from the same fabric, and still have enough to make the baby one too.

I will post pics when I get my dress done, I have to get a zipper first.. erhrh!

btw, I got the fabric at the dreaded Wal-Mart for $1.00 a yard

Becca, I just love, love, love those bags . I never seem to find a big that's big enough to hold everything I *need* yet looks stylish enough.
Would you mind sharing the pattern or a short explanation how you made it? It seems that the striped bag has outer bags as well, doesn't it?

And Tummy, I also instantly fell in w/the dress you made your daughter. The pattern is absolutely beautiful and something I also like a lot. Did you have a pattern or did you make it up yourself?

It's actually one bag. The stripe is the inside of the bag. I got the pattern from JoAnn Fabrics, but saw it at WalFart as well, they were both on metal turn cases( make sense?) It is a basic purse pattern packet that had three different purse patterns in it. It showed them made from Laura Ashley fabric and the tote was slung over a wooden chair. The tote was suposed to have interfacing, and the straps where longer and tied at the top. I skipped the interfacing and sewed the shoulder straps because it was to bulky tied. It fits so well against the body, and fits my large dayplanner, wallet, travel diaper change roll, extra AIO, TONS of junk and papers to uninportant to get rid of, plus a jacket on cold days.

I am so jealous of you moms who get to sew cute clothing for dds! It's just not the same sewing navy blue pants. KWIM?

Nope, I am not tallented enough to make a pattern myself.. even tried, baaaad idea!

I had a pattern, I think

Ok, seriously as all heck.. I cannot remember if I did have a pattern for that one or not...

I will look around tomorrow and let you all know... oh crap, now I remember typing this.. only remember cause I just thought about how it does not fit DD1 due to the fact I did not put a zipper on the back I thought I could get away with it, and could have if she did not have such a big head.. lmao

I have another that I made the baby and will load pics tomorrow.. its from the same fabric, two piece dress/bottoms
