OMG, she is so emotional! and testing boundaries like crazy Then this morning she had me busting up laughing, probably not the best response but I couldn't help it... I don't remember what the fight was about (wouldn't let her do something I think) then out of no where she yells "your gonna ruin my life and none of my dreams are gonna come true!" I busted up laughing and told her that was my job and when she has her own kids she can screw up there lives I know where she's getting that idea, my mother and after all the crap she's pulled this week I'm putting some distance between us. (cut dd's hair w/o asking then told entire family I'm prego and how ashamed she is about it when I had planned to announce it at xmas after I knew it was viable) Anyway, this is just normal 5 yr old stuff?

i dunno, but my 2 year old dd is in competition with your 5 year old dd for being the most dramatic ... seriously..... she is just.... unbelievable...

yup, sounds normal. According to my dd when she was 6 "nothing ever goes right with this family" after getting 5 pieces of meat instead of 11. Lately on a weekly basis she doesn't like this house and doesn't want to live here anymore. I tell her good I don't like this house and don't want to live here anymore either or that she can pack her stuff and leave. Then she says she doesn't know where to go so I tell her if she doesn't want to live here she has to live on the street. Suddenly it isn't quite so bad.

I just sat down at the computer and got here because my five year old (six in Feb) is driving me crazy. Very dramatic, very doom and gloom and very self absorbed. We just had our second DS (and last!), he was 9 weeks premature and it has been very very tough. I hope it is the age. I worry about him being this way as he grows up...
His daddy just went to take him shopping for a presant for me, he didn't want to go if it didn't involve him getting one too. This attitude has been going on since last Fall, since the babe it has been awful.
Sorry I don't have any advice, but you are not a lone.
He is also very frightened...of everything...

Another vote for NORMAL. . . my dd turns 6 in January and I have thought about posting about her for several months now. I don't even know where to start, but wanted to let you know that this is normal. I hope it doesn't get worse when our baby comes but. . . who knows.
