Spinoff: Where have you NIP'ed - Page 2

Oh, I forgot one of my favorite ones! At a ghost town in the high desert of the Sierra Nevadas! Sure was cold up there & wasn't even winter yet. Felt kinda sentimental doing that, the babies that were last born there so long ago were all nursed too, kwim? Like we are all connected thru this very basic act. Got a pic of that one - here it is!

In the ICU while I was working!
It was late and babe wouldn't take the bottle so hubby brought him. I was in the break room (someone was watching my patient while I breastfed), when I had to mess with one of the monitors in my patients room. Anyhoo, I walked into his room, and reset my parameters on the machine, one handed. FTR, patient was intubated and sedated, so he didn't get a lookiloo (that I know of, i mean, you just never know what he comprehended).

Also: Airplane, airports, the mall, grocery store, Hallmark.

Oh I forgot at some professional mixed martial arts fights too. DS went to his first fight night at five months old!

Hi. First time here and I have to add to this thread. I'm now nursing my 11 week old twin and nursed DD to a year. I've nursed just about everywhere that my babies get hungry: at the table in restaurants (many, we like to go out to eat!), on airplanes, in the airport, in the mall on a bench and on a couch, in the car but not when its moving, in front of my in-laws (haven't done the tandem yet, that's a scary thought since none of DH's family nurses, long story), in a restaurant in front of a bunch of conservative business professors, pretty much everyplace where babies get hungry, but never in a public bathroom. I wrote a letter to the director of a mall once after I was directed to a public restroom to nurse my baby, inviting her to dinner at my home anytime as long as she didn't mind eating in our bathroom while people urinated and defecated while she ate.

Umm.... I'm REALLY not being critical, I am asking for my own curiousity.

Did you feel uncomfortable with him being out of a car seat / seat belt? I often feel like I can't go on long trips cause we're always nursing.....

Cruising the mall parking lot with my sister driving slow. Chick fil A drive-thru, Airplanes, trains, buses, more restaurants than I can count, the beach, lots of other people's houses, at the park, at DD #1's Montessori school meeting, Target, Old Navy, GAP and the new Atlanta Aquarium. We have it made here in Europe....no one looks twice at a breastfeeding mama in my neck of the woods!

Nursed my son (then he was 3) in the Kansas City airport, a public park and Disneyland : )

2 family gatherings

mid wife waiting room
dr office waiting room
in the room talking to the dr.

that is all i can think of totally boring list

Sharlla, you reminded me of one of my first NIPs

I nursed at the welfare office. The worker wouldn't even look at me once she saw what I was doing. She started moving quicker though!

Ever been IN a wedding as party of the wedding party and nursed without too much hassle?

I am matron of honor at a beach wedding in late march. DH is groomsman. I am getting super nervous about the dress and nursing. Bride at first was okay with babe in sling but now is not okay with that. Yeah, I just posted in BW...argh!

Highlights:

the Met in NY
MOMA in San Fran (Museum of Modern Art)
Sea World
FAO Schwartz on 5th Ave. NY city

Plenty more; I wish I had pix of each for some kind of nursing around the US diary....

Oh my - this list is gonna be sooo long. I NIP EVERYWHERE!

In the car - MaryJaneLouise, we always make sure there is an empty seat next to the baby seat and I just lean over while baby is in the car seat all buckled in nice and safe and BF. We've driven all over the country with nursing beebees and none of them ever had a bottle. Granted it can get uncomfortable leaning over like that - but I think it is worth it!

synagogue, restaurants, weddings, malls, supermarkets, hospitals, dr appointments, hair appointments (I once nursed oldest DD under the hair cutting smock thing!), pools, hiking, movie theater (spiderman and second star wars movie), in front of mil-fil-bil-sil-god and everyone

I'm sure there's more, I'm just a bit tired right now and the brain isn't working well.....

I think I've nursed my son just about everywhere!
Some memorable ones:
~In the model cabin at a huge flea market thing
~In many parking lots & rest areas on the 2 and 1/2 hour drive to my sister's house (I'm a goofball, but I get a kick out of pointing these places out to my hubs when he's driving w/ me )
~In front of my in-laws, and everyone else for that matter
~At the beach and pool

Let's see:

I've nursed in the fitting room at Walmart
I've nursed G in a sling while walking around at the mall, and also, sitting down in the mall
I've nursed in the sling while walking around Food Lion doing grocery shopping
I've nursed in my dad's big easy chair while he sat in the other chair and we sat and watched movies together(something I NEVER thought I would see myself doing)
At my MIL's house (she is a big advocate of nursing, nursed some of hers into toddlerhood)
At my place of worship in the mother's room

I've nursed in pretty much every restaurant we've eaten at in the past 2 years but my favorites are:

1. Tandem nursing my incredibly active DD when the hostess told us that she forgot our reservation. We were with another couple and their 5 year old. The hostess was a anot so I just said, "Oh. No table? Well then, I'll just nurse my kids right here" (in the very busy lobby) and then Voila! Our table was ready. DD nursed under the table.

2. When DD was a few weeks old, DH and I went to a hot air balloon show. We were hungry for breakfast and in the little bitty town we were in, there was a fantastic restaurant that was a converted former drugstore. As luck would have it, DH and I were seated at the table in the window up on a higher floor so all the passersby could see us. DD had her breakfast with the entire town strolling by. Not only did I NIP, we were on display!!!!

I did try nursing in a restroom at Target when DD was born. It was DISGUSTING and potties aren't comfortable places to perch unless you are actually going potty. But there's not a whole lot worse than not using the potty and actually looking around at the stall and the walls, etc. etc. I'm pretty certian I haven't used a public restroom since...

I've NIP just about everywhere - if my child is hungry they get to nurse - it's always been my motto

walking around stores (with and without a sling), doctors appointments, restaurants, zoo, park, mall, work, friends/family homes (most of them are used to it now, but some are a bit uncomfy with it still)

Most recently, some friends of ours had a baby. When we got to the hospital to visit, dd needed to nurse. I popped her in the sling, nursed her in the parking garage and in the hospital while we walked. Our friend couldn't believe that I could "do that" and walk at the same time. I just looked at him clueless like and said "why wouldn't I be able to walk and nurse? I don't need my legs to nurse"

His response "uh...um....didn't people SEE you?"

So freaking what. *sigh*
