There was a thread a while back titles something similar but I can't remember the exact wording. I've tried searching every term I can think of but still can't find it.

Do you remember this thread? Can anyone help find it?

Thanks!

Is this the one you mean ?

Boys can be so hard, especially the older ones. For older DS I'm making a streamer ball, a super hero cape & mask, pj pants, a fabric backpack or maybe some other bag, a knit skunk, and a roll up case (like a knitting needle roll) for his stockmar crayons and pencils. I think Dh is planning a new treasure hunt.
For younger DS I'm making a fleece jacket, a pillow, some play food, finger puppets, slippers, mittens and probably a dozen other things.

I don't have a son, but I have nephews. For my toddler nephew I'm stitching a wool ball from felt and maybe a peace fleece knit earflap hat. Next year he'll get wool food (knit from the www.jimmybeanswool.com free patterns).

A rice pack for my teenage nephew (17)- cut a 11.5 x 5.5" rectangle of flannel, stitch up three sides, fill 3/4 full of rice and add 5 drops of eo. Actually made these for most of the family this year. Keep them in the freezer for migraines and bumps & bruises. Microwave them for 1-3 min. for a long lasting heating pad for sore muscles, mastitis, or to warm your feet when you crawl into bed. My mil made him a quillow a few years ago that was a big hit.

If I had known about the 'I spy' pillows sooner, I'd have made them for the 5 year old twins.

All I can think of for now...

Everyone gets flannel and/or cotton pjs. Bottoms with matching t-shirts for the males. And those flannel blankets with the knot-tied fringes. My sister always makes fantastic hat-mitten-scarf sets. Not to mention the always-loved basic crew-neck sweater. Little boys-n-girls get little pillows.

My family is also very 'into' woodworking etc. So we do 'kits' of things. Like a tool box filled with wood blocks, hammer, and nails. A saw, planer [sp?], miter [sp?], chisel, sandpaper, etc. All of the more 'old fashioned' tools. Next year my son is getting a tool bench. The plan is to build some of the stuff we saw in a book of play structures. Etc Etc Etc.

Bird houses, caterpillar houses, terreriums, and lots and lots of plants. My son likes digging in dirt just as much as I do. I also give those jars of food where all you ad is water or something; biggest winner is cocoa but cookie mix is a hit too.

I'm making 3 bean bags and an eye spy bag. I'm thinking about making some finger puppets as well.

I'm renovating my old Playmobil pirate ship with new sails and additional repairs. I'm making a Playmobil-sized castle out of cardboard; still trying to figure out a finish that'll make it look professional. I'm also setting up his own identity on our computer, and will start allotting him an hour of computer time a week.

My almost 5 year old is getting a knit washcloth in crazy colors and a pair of silly slippers. The baby will get a big kiss and maybe a santa hat if I get the last 2 projects off my needs before next Wed. Doubtful, but I can always wish....
