Isn't the foreskin part of the penis?

Why do some people think that the foreskin is not actually part of the penis? Why do circ'ing parents insist that their son has a whole penis?

So they can feel a little bit better about what they have done.

'Foreskin' seems a bit of a misnomer to me. 'Midskin' might be more apt.

I really think that many simply don't know any better. How would they? There are so few foreskins in our country that many people won't ever have seen one or have any idea how it works.

I also think that the very word "foreskin" somehow makes it seem like it's a separate piece, not part of the penis at all.

I agree, I think it's largely due to the word "foreskin" which makes the prepuce sound like some little dangly bit, not something that starts about half-way up the infant's shaft and is, indeed, a continuation of the shaft skin.

Perhaps we should start saying prepuce, or even shaft skin? Because it really is shaft skin--just shaft skin that some parents think they have the right to remove.

I almost posted something like this a while back but thought you guys might think I was silly. I don't like the word foreskin because so many women who have never seen one think it's some floppy bit of skin that dangles off of the penis.

Not only that, but when you spend time on a board like this, it's possible to embarrass yourself if you happen to be typing a quick e-mail to a friend about an injury to your foreHEAD...

Queen, you've been hanging around some debate board somewhere, haven't you?

Are the finger nails part of the fingers? Are lips part of the face? Are labia part of the vulva? Of course the foreskin is part of the penis. Those who try to say it isn't are trying to be deceptive. They are trying to liken it to a wart and if you can accept that comparison, you can accept cutting it off. The fact is, they just don't want to be known as penis cutters. By saying that it is a separate thing instead of an integral part, they think they can dodge it.

If you go to one of the websites listed in the sticky above, it has several closeup pictures of an intact adult penis. The thing that struck me is that the veins on the penis did NOT stop above the glans, but continued downward to the very tip of the foreskin. This vividly illustrated that the foreskin, or prepuce, is meant to be an integral part of penile anatomy. What harm have we done to our males by cutting off an integral part of their penises?

Frank, I haven't been to any debate boards in a long time. I just can't handle it anymore.
