My 3yo niece would like some lacing/sewing cards for Christmas- any creative mamas out there who could help me figure out how to make some?

Draw or paste a picture onto cardboard and poke holes around the edges with an awl or nail.

Would you then cover it with contact paper or something? Anyone know if regular shoelaces are long enough to use?

I have not made sewing cards, but I have used extra-long boot shoe laces as replacement lacing.

If you're not that crafty, Melissa & Doug make wood lacing cards...in shapes, animals, cars, etc. I got a set at Marshall's for about $4-5 & although I make a ton of stuff for dd, I thought these were worth it...I couldn't do them out of wood, they'll last much longer & I like M&D products.

If you do make them, you can cover them with clear contac paper (about $4 a roll) to make them last longer.
