Death... and fame?

Okay... so I know numerous babies are killed by circ each year in the US. No baby has more or less of a right to live than any other baby.
That said...
If one boy is going to die. Any boy. Is it wrong for me to kinda wish it was the child of a celebrity? Not because I wish a celebrity that kind of pain, but think of the spotlight it would put on it, not to mention someone famous who is *probably* going to become rabidly anti-circ. For instance, if Britney's son had died during his (if he had one), think of the message it would send. NOT that a dead child should ever be a message, but it is a message nonetheless.
Of course I would wish that no children die because of it. I wish it WERE what everyone claims it to be, a painful harmless snip of useless skin (I still wouldn't be in favor of it, but I wouldn't be as opposed as I am now). But since kids ARE gonna die, it would seem like that death would be less in vain than poor little Bobby fron North Carolina.

Am I a total bitch for thinking this?

You're not Politicall Correct, but you're also not a bitch.
I agree with you. If it's going to happen, let it happen meaningfully so people can learn from it. I don't think it's wrong for us to learn from mistakes. The death of a child is a mistake. It's not a publicized mistake when it's just a common child. But you're right that if it were Cindy Crawford's son (she allowed her dh to make the decision and now she regrets it very much), there would be major press. I'm sorry, Ms. Crawford, to say that your child should be in the line of fire, that's not really how I meant it to sound. But your child isn't more valuable than mine, or vice-versa.

Darn, I think I got that all muddled in trying to agree with you.

I agree with both your reasonings.

Quirky, you temporarily turned my brain into mush with that.

What you are saying is valid but unthinkable on first consideration. I know of two babies that have died as a result of circumcision. With one, the only way it became at all public was that a member here knew the parents and the child. The only details she was able to give was when the baby was born, when he died and that the cause of death was infection. The parents, the doctor and the hospital kept all of the other details very confidential.

There was another baby that was born very recently and thanks to the grapevine, I learned everything about that baby, about the circumcision, about his struggle to survive, about additional surgeries and about his death. I even saw pictures of him and his mother. That made him very real while the first baby was very anonimous. There was tremendous impact with the second one but not as much with the first one.

A death of a celebrities baby due to circumcision like Britany's or Cindy's would have a tremendous impact on the American psyche and would break this issue out into the wide open. I hate to say it but one celebrity death could prevent hundreds of others. I also hate to think it as well.

However, it could also happen that the death would be covered up as well as to the true cause. That would not be at all unusual but the common way these things happen.

I hate to say it because it seems so inhuman, but I admit I've thought this myself, but regarding vaxes. I've been thinking if one or more really big celebrities have children damaged by vaccines then speak out about it, it would really help uncover the lies and spread the truth about the dangers of vaxes.

I don't really hope that it happens, but can see what good could actually come out of a situation like that.

So, no, I don't think you're a total bitch. I'm sure there are a few people who have had similar thoughts.

Wow, I am so powerful, I turn your brain into mush even when I don't post! : Must be that you are channeling my sleep deprivation. If you make a little beanie out of aluminum foil, it'll protect you from my brain waves and things will be much easier.

I told you it was mush! Apparently, the break I took before I posted wasn't long enough. I think I'll try the aluminum foil beanie. Do I need a ground strap on it? :
