I think I'm going to be sick

maybe I'm expecting too much from a mainstream board
link removed

I'm just surprised at how none of them are saying anything about research or real thought! It's all "I think it's gross" "I knew a guy who wasn't and he smelled" "well Dad is so son will be"

I'm just so sad that all these women are so blind and unwilling to see...

Its just plain sad !!

yes very uneducated reasoning for perminent surgery, trouble is they probably think it's a little snip.

I did see one intactivist post at the bottum of page two, and a couple of other times

ugg on page 3 someone says when she had her first son done she could hear him screaming from out in the hall which she says was awful and broke her heart yet then goes on to say all 3 of her sons are circed.

Oh man now on page 4 someone says she didn't give concent! the Dr just came and told her how well the circ went! but then goes on to say she's glad anyhow.

Why am I reading all this

They also may be fetish trolls there to help make people THINK the foreskin is gross...

Nasty things should go back under their bridges.

Ok, I guess I should have gone and read before opening my big mouth, lol. By the looks of things they are the real deal over there.

How disturbing, most of the moms who chose circumcision for their boys made comments that started with "I have heard..."

Just goes to show how well people research this before they tell the doctor ok to do it.

Now, the Jewish mom sounds like she doesn't want to do this to her baby but thinks she has to. Any Jewish mom's out there willing to contact her? Maybe with a little info and encouragement...

Hmmmm.... What was the link to that circumcision video again? What if it was respectfully suggested that whomever is decided to circ, to watch the video first..? Think that would change some minds?

Unfortunatly, it probably wouldn't help. I've seen that tactic used on mainstream boards before, and all it did was piss people off, and usually ended up in the poster getting warned or banned for posting "inappropriate" material. And then the thread would be locked. :P Many of these parents seem to prefer to remain ignorant, so that they don't have to feel badly about their choice. Kind of like the adult version of sticking your fingers in your ears and going "I'M NOT LISTENING LA LA LA."

In a perfect world, ALL parents would research these major "procedures" before subjecting their children to them, and circumcision would become obsolite.

Believe it or not, that place doesn't look much different than what this forum looked like just 4 years ago. We had the benefit of several educated and informed members and a very gracious host and that's about the only difference.

I would love to participate in the discussion over there but right now, I just have too many irons in the fire.

Here's another board that has invited someone that is suspected to be a circumfetishist to talk as an 'expert'. The talk is to a waiting to conceive board.

At least the 'other' side will be presented at a later date. I'm just sad that 'tony' has first say

What a mess to clean up.

I need to remind you of the User AGreement that states:

5. Posting to invite members to other boards for debate purposes or posting about discussions at other boards. This is to maintain and respect the integrity of our own and other communities.

What happens when we post links to other boards that are counter to our opinion is that our members frequently go there to post the "other side". While this can be a valuable thing to do, it doesn't often lead to members joining for the purpose of becoming sincere members.

Please refrain from discussing specific boards or posting links to them. I have no problem with members sharing info thru the private message system.

I private messaged the Jewish mom the link to Jews against Circ. I hope she at least looks at it.
And I'm the intactivst over there Cracked_Baubble lol there are a couple not doing it because of family tradition, which is fine... but still no thought put into it...

Have you tried posting any of the info in the sticky at the top of this forum, "Web Resources?" There is a lot of info in there that might change some minds. At least if it is put out there, i tmight make some people think. You might not be the most popular one on there anymore but hey....save just one baby from that torture and it's worth it

Take care,
Tara

I don't think we can post to MDC from other boards (just like we can't post links on MDC).

I've always been very tempted to post the "regret" thread.

Then if I post to www.cirp.org or nocirc.org the accusation is that they are biased.

It is really frustrating.
