2-layer slings or only 2nd layer on tail?

I love making slings, but always make them just 1-layer and try to make a pocket with the tail so to avoid the "ugly" wrong-side out look. I've seen on some site that sells slings what looks like a 2nd, complementary fabric sewn on what seems to be just the tail, and I really like the look. Has anyone ever done this before? If so, how far up the tail would you go?

Or, what about a 2-layer sling? (both layers lightweight cotton woven) Maybe 2 layers of the fabric from the quilters area at Joann's? Would that be too thick or heavy?

I tried this myself, it was a disaster. The two fabrics would pull separately through the rings and the tail would end up kind of bunched up... That said, I wasn't following any instructions...

Good Luck!

what if you made it a single layer and leave the tail unfinished, then try it on and see where you would want the covering to go, then add it. just a thought.
