Can anyone give me an internet reference as "unbiased" as possible that will describe this and other complications of circumcision that may need medical interevention? I gave DH all the printouts you all referred me to and all he kept arguing was that they are from "anti-circ" sites. It took me about 10 minutes to convince him that the info from the Canadian GOVERNMENT was really from them. : Then, that wasn't good enough, so here I am printing the AAP's statement. He says he wants to also hear from the side that says circumcision is good and he doesn't believe me when I tell him that there isn't anyone (a reputable medical organization) that does say it's a good thing. I think he's really looking for a reason to justify this, but he's not going to find one.

How sad...I was just discussing this issue with DH tonight since we are expecting again.

Frank, your sig line reminded me of our earlier conversation ("messed up" circs). Hubby started reading through that thread tonight...he's taking it pretty seriously.

The other problem is even when a dr tries to get a parent not to circ, many times they provide inadequate information and it sounds like excuses.

Praying for the family.

This is common and we've seen it many times. No matter what you lead him to, he's going to reject it as biased. You're going to have to make him go on the defensive instead of you being on the defensive. Tell him since he rejects all of your sources as biased, he's going to have to show you information from sources supporting circumcision that are unbiased. I can guarantee you that he will not be able to do that. None of the world's medical organizations support infant circumcision. Intact is the default setting and to justify surgery, the one requesting it has to justify it. If you simply stick to that, you'll win this one . . . Guaranteed!!!

Mommy To B R:

Concerning the positive reports from National recognized organization for your husband. The Canadian Pediatric Society report WAS about as good as it gets.

The World Health Organization (WHO) does not recommend infant circumcision to prevent / treat HIV/Aids, or any other medical issue.

The American Cancer Society / Canadian Cancer Society does not recommend infant circumcision to prevent penile or cervical cancer.

No medical society recommends infant circumcision to protect against urinary tract infections (UTI’s)

NO medical society ANYWHERE recommends routine infant circumcision for ANYTHING.

Things Circumcision Does Not Prevent:
Circumcision does not prevent Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
Circumcision does not prevent Penile Cancer
Circumcision does not prevent Cervical Cancer
Circumcision does not prevent HIV/AIDS infection
Circumcision does not prevent Phimosis
Circumcision does not prevent needing to be cut later
Circumcision does not prevent your son's genitals from looking different than his father's
Circumcision does not prevent teasing in the lockerroom
Circumcision does not prevent needing to clean the penis
Circumcision does not prevent genital odour
Circumcision does not prevent Premature Ejaculation
Circumcision certainly does not prevent masturbation
Circumcision does not prevent you from not getting into Heaven

All of these thing can and DO happen to circumcised men.

That is so sad, I really feel for the family. Poor baby boy

I've seen several botched circ's at the hospital, I've never heard of any deaths or major complications there afterwards but I knew they existed. How sad

That autopsy site just made me Yea, the dr's were wrong to circ, they always are! But dammit, any idiot knows that a baby's diaper should NOT be soaked with blood! There should not be huge clots in the diaper! WTF were the parents thinking to ignore it!!! That poor baby. All of them who have been harmed by circumcisions and by ignorant parents who ignore obvious complications.

That's such a shame. I was thinking that a little publicity would go such a long way in this... parents getting together with their local nocirc chapter and picketting the hospital, a blurb on the local TV news & paper... how many hundreds of people would that reach who never thought of it before?
