We're not pregnant or even trying, but I would really like to decide our respective positions on circumcision before we throw hormones and the emotionalness of pregnancy into the mix. I am against it, I figure it's not our foreskin to chop off, if the kid feels it needs to be done, he'll turn 18 someday and can have it done himself. My husband agrees, but still has a bit of a religious hang up. I know that if he saw the damage that a circumcision can do, he'd not ever want to do it. So do any of you guys have any websites that give detailed explainations of circumcision and have pictures of botched ones? Is it mean to try to scare him out of doing it?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

You could also try www.intact.ca for the video of a baby boy being circed. Not for the faint-hearted. And this is with EMLA (topical anesthetic).
Also check out http://research.cirp.org - even if the circ is done with anesthesia, even if there are no "complications" like bleeding, infection, too much skin removed, etc. all circumcisions have the 100% complication rate of removing the most sensitive part of the penis.

Wow...
I've seen the link to that video before, but could never make it past the first sound of the baby screaming. For some reason, I made myself watch it today. And they say it doesn't hurt the child.
:
I consider myself pretty desensitised to gore (years of horror flicks), but that quite literally made me almost throw up.
I'm glad I watched it though. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that I made the right decision in leaving DS intact.

Yeah, it made me sick also. Dh and I have been debating circ for awhile now. We have a dd and will be trying again soon. I wanted this resolved before I got preg because I know that I could not debate well while preg. He was "standing his ground" that if we had a boy we would be circ. My dh isn't usually that forceful and unwilling to compromise. Well I have been showing him articles and info for about 6 months now, a little at a time. He still would not give in. SO I had him watch that. An hour afterwards he told me that was too traumatic for him to watch and he could not do that to any dc of his!
Yeah!
Yeah!

Try these. I think they will be graphic enough but if not, let me know.
