My back aches

I just got done tracing and cutting out PUL for 7 pairs of training pants - 3 in purple and 4 in neon orange. I could have gotten a 5th one out of the neon orange, but I wanted to save some of that for covers. So if you're using the large DD Potty Dance Pants pattern with 2" added to the middle, you can get 5 cuts out of 1 yard of PUL. You just have to do one longways, then one shortways next to it, then two long ways above those, and then you could get another one shortways on the other end. These things are long and wide, so they take alot of fabric. I only got 3 cuts out of the purple because I already did a cover and I probably should have made it go the other way. Oh well. I think I have enough for one more cover, or maybe some smaller covers. I forget.

Anyway, my back aches because I did the tracing on the dining room floor (wood! So I put a cheapy receiving blanket under my knees - still hurt), and then did the cutting on a card table. I really would love to have a taller cutting table (and a REAL cutting table at that). Oh well. One day I'll actually have a sewing room instead of using my dining room and kitchen.

Now I need to go prewash the flannel I'll be using for the insides of these training pants. I figure I'll have them done after Christmas, so I don't have to stand in line at the post office.

Oh do I hear you on wanting a sewing room!!!!!

I also trace on the dining room floor and cut on the dining room table often. Our house is well under 1000 sq feet so it's all about multi-use rooms. We LOVE our house and feel VERY fortunate to own it (okay, part of it...) But every now and then I long for a house with a bit more space. I can't wait to see pics of the training pants. What pattern are you using?

I want a 'real' sewing room as well!!! I do feel very fortunate to have a huge laundry room and that's what doubles as the sewing room for now.. there's plenty of room, but... that room sure needs a lot of work (aka paint -- the wallpaper is atrocious and peeling -- and better lighting instead of just the one, single set-in light in the middle of the room that doesn't provide *nearly* enough light!)... and I end up cutting out all my stuff upstairs on the dining room table because I don't have a table downstairs to put my cutting mat on!!

Dh *says* that we'll work on converting our 'office' into a sewing room because we actually have *two* desks in here (the previous owners left a pretty darn nice corner desk, which this computer sits on right now) and the computer could go on the smaller desk and I (in theory) could 'set up shop' on the corner desk with the sewing machine on one side and my cutting mat on the other... and there are a lot of built-in shelves here to store all the material I seem to be accumulating!!

.... but of course nothing has happened yet *sigh* ... dh is a planner and not so much of a do-er, if you know what I mean. besides, I have plenty of other things to do right now anyway!!

but, I sure hope your back gets better, Vera!! I can't *wait* to see all those great trainers!!!
