Sewing Wovens as To Quilt

Hi Folks,

This is a super newbie question . I was thinking about sewing some patches together for a sort of quilted wall hanging, and was wondering, when I sew the various pieces together do I need to fold the rough edges over so that they are 'hidden' inside the fabric on both patches, and then sew? Or can I just sew the rough edges together leaving a seam allowance?

Thanks!

With quilts, you usually just sew the patches together leaving the seam allowance on the back and then put a backing on it. The best quilts for beginners are strip quilts, where you sew a bunch of squares into a strip, trim all hte strips evenly and hten sew the strips together. The hard part comes when you're trying to get everything lined up evenly; if you can let that part slide, it's pretty darn easy

Great! That is what I was thinking of doing, sewing the squares into a strip, then putting the strips together!
